“This is becoming our favourite restaurant now. Just so much choice on the menu alone, besides the daily specials. Staff are always so friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable about the food on offer. I also visit with a disabled family member, and staff are just beyond amazing with them.”

“We stopped here for a few drinks on a Friday evening. The bar staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. There is a good variety of drinks to choose from. We went for a large sauvignon blanc which came out of a very large decanter, and was delicious. I had a double spiced rum and ginger beer, and it's worth noting the shots are 35ml so 70ml for a double, which I wasn't complaining about! Prices were very fair for the drinks, I think it was around £15 for the 2 drinks. The bar had a great atmosphere for a Friday evening, well worth coming here!”

“Brilliant location. Right in the centre of Buxton which is a short walk to get too. The hotel is on a hill and may be too steep for those with mobility issues. There is plenty of parking which cost £5 for 24hr. The hotel is very large but very clean. We didn't see dust, marks ect. Check in was friendly and easy. The staff are so warm and welcoming. The lobby is very large and grand and plenty of seating. The building is very old, however the decor and furniture is not. The price of a night stay with half board was excellent. Couldn't fault the hotel. The location is excellent. Just note the hotel is on hill.”

“first time visited, arrrived 1:50pm on Wednesday, all desserts are £5 only. the service was good and the food that we ordered were tasty. buffalo chicken wings almost charged £1 per wing. the confit belly pork, steak pie and sea baa were delicious. both crumbles and sticky toffee pudding with custard were values for money (£5 per dessert on wednesday)”

“Arrived here on a cold & rainy Saturday morning for breakfast, it was warm and welcoming staff were polite and friendly. We were told to sit where we liked which is always a bonus and they were quick to take our order. A Latte and fruit juice arrived very quickly and then Maple syrup Pancakes and bacon twice, was lovely food great portion sizes and more than reasonable price, would definitely recommend!”

“I found this place through Google review search. We arrived and was told they could not accommodate 4 of us inside. A very helpful lady sorted us out with a nice table right in the centre of the pub. We ordered and waited for a short time . We were not prepared for the portion size, we had fish, pie and chips, sausage and mash and the half rack of ribs. The ribs I swear came of the biggest pig in the peak District. Every thing was fresh hot and tasteful. It was amazing, I would not drive past this place. It is the real deal. After a day on the peaks this is the place for amazing atmosphere great fresh local tasteful food.”

“We stayed in our camper van overnight here , had a lovely welcome from both hosts Jenny and Lee , bar comfy and friendly , had a fabulous meal in the evening which was hot freshly cooked and huge! Bar staff and waitress very attentive, had gorgeous breakfast following morning , highly recommend this quaint pub and we’ll definitely be returning”

“Fabulous little micropub just off the main road in Buxton. Good selection of ciders and beers that are well kept by the efficient and friendly staff. Brilliant atmosphere, cosy and friendly. Very dog friendly. If you like beer & dogs, you need to try this place ! Sadly I'm allergic to dogs so can never stay for more than about half an hour before I need some fresh air. Always pop in though when in Buxton !!”

“We stayed in our canper van in the beautifully laid out car park. Paying to park overnight gave us a voucher for 10% off our restaurant order which was brilliant. The food and the beer were really good, the indoor eating area was cosy and the staff were lovely. We'll definitely be back.”

“The rooms around the back are cosy-sized but very comfortable. I stayed on a drizzly Wednesday night so there was no one sat outside the back of the pub and it was very quiet - can't say how quiet it would be on a Saturday night. The staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful. They had my cooked breakfast ready when I came down in the morning as they knew I needed to leave early, and they locked my bike in a secure room and had it out ready in the morning without me having to ask. Just be aware that if you come by train, it's at the top of the hill!”

“Clan was out and about in this area and stopped here for food. Vegetarian and vegan options were amazing so the orders began. The service was wonderful. We were seen to our table and the one child with us was given a kids menu that they could draw and colour in to keep them entertained. It was pretty busy so I expected some delays in the food yet it arrived quickly. The food was amazing. In fact it was so good I ordered more and that arrived just as promptly. The lady servicing us was so helpful and would advise on food and drinks. Desserts were lovely too and everyone left with full bellies as there was something for everyone and all due credit to the kitchen team, it came out pretty fast and was delicious. Will definitely be back here when I'm in the area again. Enjoy.”

“Wonderful welcome. Very large comfortable bedrooms and superb food! A fabulous place that we will return to regularly. The landlady and landlord and fabulous team make sure every guest is happy. Whether visiting for a drink, food or overnight stay you will not be disappointed. The food portions are huge but save room for the lovely homemade desserts too!!”

“Visited Buxton for the new year and visited The Swan new years eve. Not disappointed at all. Great locals and bar staff we're fantastic. Thatchers went down very well with myself and my son. The band we're great and very entertaining, sorry but can't remember their name. Please add if anyone knows so they get a mention as a thank you. “If your passing on your way to or back from town whilst staying at Premier Inn. This is a great tradition pub, with darts, pool, sports. A big welcome from landlord with friendly locals. A pub full of character & characters, not a bland plastic space. Excellent pint of Wainwright's. Thank you for your hospitality.”

“It was such a lovely experience, my wife and I were visiting for the weekend and I was feeling a little under the weather so honestly wasn't feeling up for going, but didn't want to let her down. The staff, the cleanliness, the atmosphere and the locals were so welcoming and friendly. We had food which was great and well priced and the whole pub was so great with our dog Bucky. It really lifted my spirits and whenever we come back down to Buxton we'll be popping in every time, really lovely pub. The staff are a huge credit, nothing was too much, always big smiles. Really great pub.”

“We stopped here for lunch on a whim - really glad we did so as it is a gem. Good service and atmosphere, clean and just a really nice place to stop at. The icing on the cake for me was the fact the menu had many gluten free choices, one of which was a pie. Such a rare treat to find gf pie on a menu anywhere. It was delicious. My husband had the ordinary pie and was likewise impressed. Unfortunately for us we found this Inn on our last day in the area, so we weren't able to return, but I'd willingly recommend it to others.”

“After a busy day ,we called for an early evening meal. The pub is Beautiful and very well run.The food was outstanding. We ordered the special Rib Eye steak, the portion size was extremely generous, and cooked perfectly. Delicious food and a lovely warm reception. Thank you. Would highly recommend.”

“Always a great night in Level 2. People in the is always a great mix and lots of friendly faces. Great music and the occasional superstar providing the entertainment. The best place in town for drinks in to the early hours.”

“We popped in for Thursday curry night and it didn't disappoint. The lady who served me who i think may have been a manager was brilliant, she was on the ball with serving me and putting my order through, and i could tell she was working hard because didn't stop rushing around. The food came out in super quick time. Toilets were clean. I would definitely return to this whetherspoons.”

I ordered the halloumi veggie burger witg upgraded loaded fries and my colleague went for the rack of ribs. Take a look at the photos, the portions are really generous!!! The flavours and presentation were outstanding! I will definitely return next time I'm staying in the area. Looking forward to trying the other things on the menu.”
