“We had a lovely prosecco afternoon tea Tuesday for my birthday which my friend brought me. The ladies were very friendly, we couldn't eat all our lovely cakes so brought them back in a box. The food was very nice and fresh lots of choice. We will definately be visiting again to try more on the menu. Thank you”

“Found this by chance when walked near the Victoria Town Hall. I saw good review on Google map and never regret with my decision to give a try and the influence of the good reviews. The lamb is super yummy, when I start eating I was doubting was I ordering a beef steak but it wasn’t, is lamb. I’m very impressed with the texture and the taste of the gravy. Excellent! The appetisers and snacks are all yummy and served in style. This is a place where you see the restaurant manager guiding the trainee students and they execute their role up to standard. I’m not sure who is the lady that guiding the trainees but I just very certain she is a great person to take care of the restaurant and the trainees. She oversees the overall services and the training. Impressive! And Appreciate!”

“We celebrated our daughter’s 18th birthday at The Lounge and i have to say the place was amazing. The staff and management were fantastic and catered for all our needs. The food was absolutely amazing and probably the best I’ve had for a wedding or party. All of our guests have sent messages stating they were so impressed with the food. Your amazing Chef and Service Staff definitely need a pay rise for all their hard work. If anyone requires similar set up like the pictures below please don’t hesitate ask the team to get in touch.”

“Went for a birthday meal on Tuesday 25th June. We were seated upstairs. The staff were very friendly, warm and welcoming. The tapas dishes we had were all delicious especially the pork belly each dish were flavoursome had 6 dishes in total between the 2 of us. We also ordered pratas bravas, chorizo, harissa chicken, casa med salad and bread with balsamic and oil. It was very filling so had no room for desert. With the 15% it was well worth it. I was pleasantly surprised how much it was so I recommend going on a Tuesday. This is the place to go for a special occasion.”

“Had a fantastic evening with 3 friends tonight. This place is a hidden gem in Erdington and I will be back regularly. The food is amazing and tasty and arrives to the table very hot. Each person is catered for perfectly and cood how we like it. I had massala fish starter and it was hot tasty and a nice crispy coating then mixed grill for one as my main. This was also delicious and included 3 fish pacoras 3 wings 3 sheish kebabs and 3 big chunks of tandoori chicken. It's well worth it and very good value. 4 people had starter and mains with 2 drinks each for under £80. Restaurant was very clean and complied well with covid compliance Thanks again for the great food and good night”

“Watched The Avatar at Everyman Cinema and the sound and screen quality were excellent, which really made the experience enjoyable. The visuals and music came through beautifully. “By far the best fish n chips in the whole of birmingham. Better than Bedders all day long. No weird greasy aftertaste, no smelly smells in the restaurant. The chips cooked to perfection. Fish was lovely and flaky no skin or off putting veins in the fish no bones, good decent portion size, average price. Service was friendly, atmosphere was relaxing, a great place to dine with plenty of seating either upstairs or downstairs. Overall 10/10 definitely worth going and has become our regular for fish n chips.”

The ONLY gripe was that the first few courses came really fast but then had a 45 minute wait for the main. It was worth the wait but when you have a matching menu, you also run out of a drink! The water bottles are expensive so we had to wait for the main and drink.”

Now, let’s talk about the food — because wow! The mixed grill was absolutely phenomenal. Every single item on the platter was cooked to perfection — tender, juicy, and packed with incredible flavor. You can really tell that the chefs take pride in their cooking. The fish was another highlight — fresh, perfectly seasoned, and grilled just right. It honestly melted in the mouth. It’s rare to find a place that nails both meat with such consistency, but Merrymaid absolutely does. The service was top-notch throughout our visit. , the food came out hot and fresh, and the servers were attentive without being intrusive. What really impressed me, though, was the personal touch — the owner, Ranjit, personally came over to our table to ask how everything was. That kind of attention and care speaks volumes about how much pride he takes in his restaurant and how much he values his customers. It’s not just a meal here — it’s an experience. Everything about this place says quality — from the cleanliness of the restaurant to the presentation of the food and the friendly, family-like vibe that makes you want to stay longer. You can tell the whole team truly cares about what they do, and it shows in every detail. We will be back to try the curry. Merrymaid Bar and Grill is the place to go.
