“I recently tried the Mixed Grill for four at The Greek Tavern and I was really impressed! The portions were very generous, the quality of the meat was excellent, and everything was cooked perfectly. “We came here with a big group of family - meeting from different parts of the country - in the gap between Christmas and New Year and had a lovely welcome. They had no trouble accommodating our big group and brought a selection of delicious dishes, tej (honey wine) and beautiful traditional Ethiopian coffee and spiced tea. Waiting staff were very helpful ,friendly and attentive it was my god daughter's birthday and as they brought the cake out all of the tables sang happy birthday. lt was the first time myself and my husband had been but it will definitely not the last. lf you get the chance to go do, sadly they open 8/9 weeks in the summer and only on Saturday this year. “Went for a birthday meal on Tuesday 25th June. We were seated upstairs. The staff were very friendly, warm and welcoming. The tapas dishes we had were all delicious especially the pork belly each dish were flavoursome had 6 dishes in total between the 2 of us. We also ordered pratas bravas, chorizo, harissa chicken, casa med salad and bread with balsamic and oil. It was very filling so had no room for desert. With the 15% it was well worth it. I was pleasantly surprised how much it was so I recommend going on a Tuesday. This is the place to go for a special occasion.”

“The food was excellent. We shared the cold mixed mezzes, about 7 interesting tastes with a little green salad. I liked how they used cucumber slices between the different mezzes to keep them apart. The dips that they give you to start with flat bread were nice. We shared the sigara boregi and one chicken shish and it was plenty.”

“I doubted family run Traditional Italian Restaurants after experiencing so so quality food and samey options delivered by overly passionate staff. Portobello Restaurant has put my faith back in the Italian culinary experience. On entering I was met by grounded, accommodating staff that ensured I was happy with the choice of table. Staff were smiley, chatty and assisted joyfully with the menu options. I opted for some nibbles and their excellently priced 2 courses for £19.95. The atmosphere in Portobello Restaurant is relaxed, sociable and family oriented. The minimalist artistic interior beams with natural light. Dishes were superbly presented, quality was evidently high. The jelly babies and hand written “thank you” on the bill echoed the care they provide to their customers. A wonderful experience.”

“Our first visit to the Olive Garden. We visited on the recommendation of a relative and it was fairly good. We ordered the grill platter and Iskender Falafel. The grill was more than enough for two and had a good amount of variety. Did find it somewhat bland, but that's because we normally prefer spices. However, the Olive Garden does offer a good alternative to the standard Indian grills. So it's probably a great option if you prefer less spicy foods. We were served by Hannah and the level of service was excellent. Most likely will visit again to try other menu entries. The restaurant is very clean and is furnished to a good standard. The only small issue was the latch on the male washroom: it doesn't lock.”

“Best restaurant experience I’ve had in Birmingham. Warm welcome into restaurant, helpful recommendations of food. The tea is beautiful, we ended up ordering two pots. Starters all so full of flavour, food came quickly. Mains really generous portions and meat cooked so well! You can see the team making all the food fresh. Service so friendly. And they made me feel so comfortable bringing my newborn in, even held him so I could eat. Made us feel right at home the whole time. Will be returning again and again.”

“Stopped in for lunch to give it a try since the food looked very nice. I went for the cheesy Greek, the one with halloumi, it was fantastic, full of fresh lettuce, tomato, onion, great bread. Quite filling. Not sure what the sauce was but it was very tasty. Eat in with a can of drink for around a £10. Highly recommend, I'll be back.”

“Work Christmas meal. The food I ate was really nice. Not a fan of dips, so I didn't eat any. But the food I did eat, like the lamb and chicken kebabs, was amazing. The staff were great, especially the manageress. I think her name was 'Jo', but I'm not sure. They danced and got customers involved, and did some plate smashing (paid for), which was really fun. I had never heard of this restaurant before, but it was a great evening. Thank you.”

Beautiful interior, relaxing music, attention to details and very very tasty food… Looking at the menu feels inappropriate… You just want to ask “What’s for dinner?” :) More than highly recommended… IT’S A MUST!!! Shared starter platter with traditional Persian dishes, Grilled Halloumi with Saffron rice, Rose tea and Saffron/Pistachio ice cream for dessert… And some original artwork…”
