By far the best fish n chips in the whole of birmingham. Better than Bedders all day long. No weird greasy aftertaste, no smelly smells in the restaurant. The chips cooked to perfection. Fish was lovely and flaky no skin or off putting veins in the fish no bones, good decent portion size, average price. Service was friendly, atmosphere was relaxing, a great place to dine with plenty of seating either upstairs or downstairs. Overall 10/10 definitely worth going and has become our regular for fish n chips.

Freshly fried Fish and Chips to order, with a lovely side salad. The cod was lovely and flakey, with a light crispy batter and not greasy. Once you’ve eaten here, guaranteed you will be return! The staff always friendly and provide a lovely service.

Had a really nice meal here last night. The haddock was fresh and flakey. The chips were perfect and the accompanying curry sauce was tasty too. The service was good. Our waitress was friendly. The toilets were clean. One of the best places for fish and chips in Birmingham and it's nice to be able to sit down and eat inside.

Great chips but the fish was just not that nice, batter was brittle and seemed to retain the oil from frying instead of being light and crispy. Upstairs has a great view at the back and service was good. Small choice of canned drinks.

One of the best fish and chips places that I have ever been to. Friendly and helpful staff, really good food and a real pleasure all round. The food is first class and a really good service provided. Highly recommended.

Dined in for a Haddock fish n chips meal accompanied by a coke zero. You get an option of a side either mushy peas or curry sauce. Heinz tartar sauce is on offer and not charged for. All in spent about £15, but I wouldn't say it was all totally worth it. Onto the review now, I got the haddock based on multiple reviews by food critics. The fish was 10/10. The portion size is huge. The taste of the fish with skin on coated with the crispy and airy batter that was less greasy, it was just about perfect. I honestly would've loved some authentic gherkin bits tartar sauce than the cheap heinz version that did no justice to the fillet. The staff was really sweet but somehow don't understand how chips are made. The first time they were cold and soft, second time they were warm but again soft and felt microwaved. Third time they claimed it was fresh but severely undercooked, neither crispy nor cooked, ridiculous. Chips are meant to be crisp on the outside and soft on the inside which can either be achieved by a 25min oven bake at 180 or a double deep frying at low and then high temp. I was ashamed to send my order back the third time so I just took it out and bought it home where I'm gonna cook it well and have. Honestly this place gets 3 stars because my meal was ruined due to just the chips experience. The curry sauce wasn't of any use either. Curry and chips are meant to be a match made in heaven and this place doesn't do justice to it at all. I don't know how this is #1 based on TripAdvisor, I'd definitely not recommend them. Even If I would, I'd suggest go get the fillet and get a takeout on them chips instead of sending them back.

Probably the best fish and chips in Brum. The chips were perfect and the curry sauce was delicious. Friendly staff and nice seating area. Recommended!

A great family run chip shop, I have been a customer here for a number of years and it’s never disappointed. With its fresh fluffy chips and well battered cod it really is one of Birmingham’s best fish and chip shops. What makes it better is the restaurant allowing for the choice of eat in or takeout an option that’s sadly not available everywhere.

My cultural culinary roots are very much tied to the Fish and Chips takeaway. As simplistic as the experience can be, it can also, given the correct venue, offer an experience that pull on the heart strings. A fish and chip shop like Dad’s Lane Fish Bar took my expectations to a new level. First of all, it has a restaurant, which is themed to match its dishes. The service is friendly, warm and chatty with its Greek Cypriot roots. The owner informed me that the venue has been running for 15 years. It is obvious to see why. The food is sensational. Everything is prepared fresh. The fish is succulent. The chips have bounce and, given my lean, the peas had substance. I don’t remember enjoying fish and chips this much for a long long time. Dad’s Lane Fish Bar is up there with the mighty Bedders, arguably Birmingham’s finest. Thank you for offering a memorable experience.
