What a gem of a place after a lovely walk. 3 adults and 2 dogs well catered for. Great ale, great food and great people. Locally sourced lamb from the farm shop we walked past on the way there, beautifully cooked and went down a treat. So good we’ve changed our plans and heading there tomorrow before travelling home just so we can try something else from the menu.

Came here for a late lunch. We ordered the pork belly with cheese sauce. Unfortunately the pork belly was a bit overcooked and the dish itself was a bit bland. Based on other reviews I feel they have other dishes that are more popular. The venue was very cozy and relaxed and the service was very friendly. I feel bad to leave this review but hopefully they think of this as constructive criticism.

This was the closest place to a cottage we were staying at in the area and visited to celebrate a 50th birthday celebration. They were so friendly and welcoming chatting to everyone and generally being great hosts. The food was excellent and everyone had a nice meal. The lamb shank I had was amazing with lovely mash and minted gravy. The only shame is that we are only on holiday otherwise we would go regularly. Would be great for all sorts of visitors. There was 14 in our party so they can cater for larger groups. Kids menu was also good.

I found this place through Google review search. We arrived and was told they could not accommodate 4 of us inside. A very helpful lady sorted us out with a nice table right in the centre of the pub. We ordered and waited for a short time . We were not prepared for the portion size, we had fish, pie and chips, sausage and mash and the half rack of ribs. The ribs I swear came of the biggest pig in the peak District. Every thing was fresh hot and tasteful. It was amazing, I would not drive past this place. It is the real deal. After a day on the peaks this is the place for amazing atmosphere great fresh local tasteful food.

Stumbled across here last minute after an afternoon out walking in the Peaks… we were so impressed by the cosy & homely atmosphere, very friendly staff (chatted to Cathy), and delicious, high quality food. Recommend the pies, chips & homemade puddings!

Amazing food, especially after a day in the Peaks. Came here last weekend for a pint and food after, both the portion size and quality of the food was lovely, so much so I invited 50 of the group trip I was on to join us. Though we definitely put a strain due to the amount of us turning up (for which I'm sorry), the staff were still lovely and did an outstanding job of serving everyone to the best of their ability! Couldn't appreciate it more

My girlfriend and I had the Sunday Carvery today and it was absolutely amazing. Good cuts of meat and plenty of trimmings. The staff were all really friendly and such a great atmosphere. Rustic yet very clean and without doubt, the best pub for a meal and drinks in Buxton. Thanks and see you again. Added bonus is that they show the football at one end of the pub :-) Andy and Em

Awesome carvery Sunday lunch. Choice between beef, turkey or honey roasted gammon. Plentiful supply of potatoes, parsnips and fresh veggies including cauliflower cheese, with pigs in blankets, stuffing and Yorkshires. All the staff are really friendly and helpful. To top it off 4 legged friends are welcome as well. We also went in earlier in the week and ate from the 'regular' menu and again the quality of the food was fantastic.
