Two of us booked a 2-night stay. We arrived mid-morning, rang the bell, and were able to leave our luggage before check-in. There is no real lobby, but we didn't need one. Yes, there is a 2nd door to unlock before going upstairs, which felt like a safe option. We were upgraded to a family room with bunk beds and a queen bed. We loved having a corner room with views out to the harbor. I was quiet, clean, and spacious. The shower had great pressure and hot water. The place has personality; it's so close to food and entertainment. For folks on a budget, we would like to keep our money with the locals rather than a cookie-cutter chain. We had a lovely and memorable time.

Nice. Central. Reasonably priced. At the straightforward end of the market and very good at it. Just a room. No bar catering etc. Just a room. A very nice room. Very nice ensuite bathroom. No bath, but big enough for one if you want to bring your own. Surrounded by noisy bars etc but did not hear a thing all night. Obviously very well soundproofed. Lots of steps. Maybe not so good for the not so abled. But there may be a lift. I don't know as I didn't need to enquire. Super smiley receptionist. Nothing too much trouble.

** Beware doors locked! not a normal hotel.** I booked in good faith, turned up at 13.30 to find the door locked, this sign up. No prior warning via booking.com confirmation, no info re left luggage. I had to find another hotel, cancel this so I wasn’t a no show and they won’t refund a penny of Β£128. No reply to my messages and even booking.com had trouble. It should be clear the doors are locked and the luggage policy. I would never have booked. Not a normal professional hotel. I’d recommend a refurbished room at The Station Hotel next door. Staff were amazing and the doors are open.

Dated hotel, no lift, little to no sound isolation, you can hear all the street traffic including the karaoke bar next door. One key opens all... We even had someone come in ... Only good things were the lady at reception was very friendly, room was clean and it's right next to both bus & train station. Would I stay again? Highly unlikely.

The location of the hotel is a great advantage due to its proximity to bus station and ferry park. Its location within city centre also provides a good view from the window. Self-service model of operation with a single staff handling many duties is both an advantage and a disadvantage as requisite assistance is either slow or inadequate. Yes, it enhances technological advancements however, human interaction is necessary in such a sector. As much as they have family bed good for family with kids to stay together in the same room (with parent bed and children's bunk), I think the rooms are relatively small. One more thing that also made me uncomfortable was their policy of depositing Β£50 per room which will be forfeited should there be stains on their bedding or towels or any other damages to their facility. It heightened consciousness in a play booked for relaxation. Overall, the hotel and the single staff we interacted with was great but the greatness was overshadowed by the hotel policy.

For me everything was perfect, was even given an upgrade on a day when I really needed it, thank you!! Room was cosy and had all I needed. Service was friendly.

This hotel is not the newest or the fanciest, but it was clean and comfortable, perfect for what we needed and staff let us store out luggage until we needed to travel

My grandparents and I had a wonderful stay at Aberdeen House Hotel. The staff was so friendly and courteous and took extra care to help us with our luggage & reassign our room when I forgot to mention our difficulty with stairs when booking. This may not be a 5 star hotel with the most modern decor, but for comfort, cleanliness, affordability, location (across the street from train station & bus stops, walking distance to downtown museums, restaurants & bars) & welcoming staff, I give it 5 stars! The bathroom is also updated with a lovely rain showerhead. Thank you! We hope you get to visit Canada soon!

Big room, comfy bed. Toilet broken - running water all night, stains down the wall and on the bedding only Β£40 though. Don't think the guy who booked us in was happy in his work.
