We had a great one night stay at this hotel (booked on Booking.com). We were pleasantly surprised how clean and tidy and welcoming the hotel looked and felt. It gives you the classic Scottish hotel feel. We were greeted by one of the staff, got booked in and given our key, room 6. This turned out to be on the top floor (attic), up a few flights of stairs. Our room however was spacious, clean and tidy. The ensuite bathroom was one of the biggest bathrooms we had on our travels. The shower was excellent, hot and powerful. Our stay was on a Monday, so one thing to note, virtually every restaurant/takeaway in the town shuts before 8 (including the one in the hotel) or was already shut. This includes Inverurie along the road except for the Wetherspoons, it opens till 11pm. On our return to the hotel we were informed the bar shuts at 9.30pm but we were more than welcome to sit in the lounge area to finish off our drinks. Breakfast during the week is a continental styled breakfast. The staff were polite and well presented. The carpark outside is large. Because it was wet we couldn't make use of the large outdoor area. One thing to note, if you are using the post code from Google maps it takes you to the other side of the road into another street. We would definitely stay here again but would make it at the weekend as there seems to be more entertainment arranged in the area then. When we arrived home we discovered that Booking.com and the hotel had both taken payment. I phoned the hotel to get a refund which was done immediately. Well done the staff a Bennachie, great service, great hotel.

My wife and I along with our Great Dane (Squeak) originally booked for 3 nights but due to the overall experience we stayed for an extra 2 nights. The food was delicious, the room was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay and we cannot say enough good things about the staff. From Monday until Saturday morning every member of staff including the Owner were not only friendly, fun and helpful but they could not have done any more for us or our Great Dane who loved her stay there as well. The locals are friendly and welcoming and I will be recommending this hotel to everyone I can. We will definitely be returning to stay again soon

A lucky find. Excellent small hotel, with welcoming friendly staff. Tastefully decorated, comfortable ensuite bedrooms. Good bar and restaurant with good selection of freshly-cooked generous meals, including a small but delicious selection of veggie dishes. Very good value. Would definitely stay here again when in the area.

I've eaten at the lodge before and never had an issue until now. The past few times we have been we have noticed the service declining but our latest visit really disappointed us. We arrived around 17:15 and ordered our drinks and food. At 18:00 our food had still not arrived and as I went to ask for an update I was told that the kitchen had not seen our order and our dishes would be another 15mins!! By now our 2yo was getting increasingly upset and hungry. We received 2 free drinks as way of an apology and our food arrived around an hour after ordering, only for my dish to be missing onion rings and mushrooms, I informed the staff and was told the food would be taken out to me. When the food did arrive I only received the onion rings and was told there were supplier issues with the mushrooms, surely this should have been mentioned at the front end instead of when I am expecting them at the table. All in all, this has really put me off going back, which is a shame as the facilities for children are excellent and normally the food is tasty, plus it's literally a 5-minute walk from my house, but the service has dropped off the cliff, there seems to be a distinct lack of experience and supervision, not once did anyone come and ask how our food was at the table and we also noticed that several of the outside tables had dirty plates and leftover food. It didn't look particularly busy either as we were the only table eating food outside and maybe there were 2 more indoors. It will be a while before we visit again for food, unfortunately.

We haven’t stayed in the lodge as we are local. We have been twice now for a meal and it has been lovely. Great outdoor area for the kids to play too. It’s definitely one of our new favourite places to come for a meal.
