   We have a few distinctive individual pieces of Matthew's hsnd made furniture in our Cottage which were created from some beautifully selected and sourced English Timber and all finished with a sympathetic and unique style that emphasises the grain and previous use of this natural product as, where possible, he uses reclaimed timber with great vision and skill. Matthew was able to scale the pieces to suit our different rooms with an imaginative and professional manner and has always been realistic about the manufacture time and we were always kept informed of progress. An amazing workshop and the breadth of his knowledge of woods, construction methods and different finishes appears rare these days from our experience.

   I had the pleasure in meeting this owner a few weeks ago when I visited his workshop. Having trained as an Interior Designer I'm always. Searching for quality handmade and unique finds. I purchased a chopping board and peg display board. But after spotting a stunning handmade bench made. From old timbers it was a quick return visit . This is definitely the most impressive item I have ever. Brought in my life. The craftsmanship is incredible and its definitely a statemen piece. If your looking for a piece of furniture or.    I was looking for an outdoor door stop and having seen one on the website, which was for indoors I contacted Matthew. I arranged to visit and take a look at the indoor one. Have looked at the indoor one Matthew suggested solutions for an outdoor version. He showed us the wood that would be used and it's heritage. I was impressed by the thoroughness and help given on something as simple as a doorstop. Looking at the completed pieces in his showroom you can see he has high standards for all his work. Once completed it was exactly what we wanted. I would definitely recommend Blackstone-Chalk for all high quality wood requirements you have.

   I got in touch with Matt 10 years ago and asked him to design a hat rack that looked like a tree branch. I loved what he designed. Since then I have asked him to design me another 4 pieces of furniture. The last piece was for my dads 70th. I asked him to make something at short notice and even though he had a big project on, he still got the bench done on time. He is a great communicator during the project and answers queries quickly. He is an incredibly talented furniture maker. His furniture is original and his pieces are timeless.

   Matt is a fantastic craftsman who is so skilled at creating amazing furniture from natural wood. He emphasises the natural beauty of the material to create furniture that are real statement pieces. Matt has made a large dining table and side tables for us, and is in the process of making some stools. His work always gets great comments. Matt is very friendly and takes the time to listen to our requirements and presents options based on his vision and experience.    Saw Matt at a local show and loved the furniture but also his personality and passion for what he was creating. I have had a couple of bits from Matt now but the last buy was a table made from church flooring timbers. Although the table was made with 2 main top boards he adapted it to make it wider for our dining room to 3. A solid bit of wood with about 200 years worth of history ingrained into it and now abused by my young children but will be with them for many years given the solid build by Matt. Love popping round his workshop and having a nosey to which he is always helpful and downs tolls to have a good chat. Would highly recommend you visit his workshop to see his passion but if too far then his website gives a good overview too. Continued success Matt. All the best, Gavin (happy client)
