A fantastic family run pub. Never stayed over but had breakfast/brunch many times and to the service is always excellent with great food. My favourite is the oatcakes.

We stayed while visiting Alton Towers which is less than 15 minutes away. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The food was really good. Just be aware there is more than one "Dog and Patridge " pub in the area, so make sure you use the post code when using sat nav! I found out the hard way by going to the wrong one! Obviously completely my fault.

We stopped off at the Dog and Partridge on our way back from Thor’s Cave and were so glad we did. The food was amazing and very reasonably priced. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. We even picked up some bespoke beer to take away as a gift for a family member. Would definitely recommend this place if you’re after a proper country pub with great food and atmosphere.

We booked a short break at Alton towers and stayed here for 1 night. David was so welcoming and friendly after an unbelievably wet day at the park. He even offered to put my shoes in the dryer for me! The attentiveness towards guests (not just ourselves) was noticed and very much appreciated! We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was lovely! I would recommend the burger. The room was also great! Very clean and it was set away from the main building with parking right outside and felt private. Would highly recommend

We stayed here as part of the Alton towers break, and what a good choice we made with this hotel. We arrived at about 2015 after a full day at Alton towers and was greeted with a warmest of welcomes. We ate in the restaurant and the burger was home made and the wife and boy both said it was lovely. I had the pork with bacon and black pudding which was honestly the best meal I have had in a long time (the black pudding was the best ever). The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The continental breakfast had a wide range of foods and was lovely, I treated myself to the pancakes and bacon which was worth the extra money. Definitely worth a stay.

Great location for Alton Towers, bit difficult to see where the turning for the entrance is from the road - especially in the dark. A spot light or something could help. Food was really good, and it had some local ales. The rooms were warm and comfortable, self contained little chalets really.

Stayed here for 2 nights for our Alton Towers trip. Stayed in one of the far brick built apartment which was plenty for our family of 5. Reasonably clean rooms (could do with a duster for the cob webs), comfortable beds and good facilities. The Inn itself was lovely and the gentlemen in the restaurant serving were pleasant and quite entertaining at times! Continental breakfasts were more than enough with a very good range of different foods. Evening meal was average. Supermarket and shops about 10 minutes away. 15 minutes from Alton Towers. Would stay again

We stayed here for two nights and used it as a base for a couple of days at Alton Towers. Location is fantastic for that as the park is an easy 10 minute drive away. Service was first class, very friendly staff who were happy to help/answer any questions we had. The breakfast in the mornings was brilliant - great choice on the buffet and plenty of choice to keep the kids happy! Cooked breakfasts could be ordered as well as another option. All the food we had (breakfasts and dinner on our first night) was delicious, you could tell it had been freshly cooked and there was a great choice on the menu. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed for our stay. If you do forget anything they sell a range of essential items in reception. All in all a fantastic place to stay if you're visiting this part of the country

Appalling!! Don’t expect good conduct from the proprietors of this establishment. We were given hotel vouchers from my daughter via Buy a Gift, we booked a stay here hoping for a cycling break. However, my father-in-law became terminally ill, so we had to rebook. They charged us £25.00 for this service. My father-in-law has now recently passed away and we have been busy with arrangements and supporting his widow, my wife’s mother and wanted to postpone our visit until the New Year. The Dog & Partridge refused, saying they would only accept a new booking before the year end. Naturally, in the circumstances, this is not feasible. We have subsequently established that Buy A Gift paid them in June this year for our booking in addition to the £25.00 they charged us and so have been fully remunerated and provided nothing. I have asked for a refund of the monies they have received from us and Buy A Gift and guess what? – nothing, no reply, a deafening silence!! Appalling, such arrogance and bad, bad, bad customer service Their intractable and bombastic attitude tells you what kind of establishment this is- uncompromising and immoral. Don’t book this hotel!

Staff were great, couldn't have asked for anything more, food and service was excellent. Only thing I can say stopped the 5 star was the cabin we had was looking a bit tired, but it was clean, warm, comfortable bed great shower/bathroom. But in defence of the earners they had said they were in the process of a rolling refurbishment Would I go back again YES
