   Visited the Gynaecology Department in 2015 when I was 47 and in excruciating pain with a 4 cm posterior subserosal uterine fibroid in the left side of my womb. It was caused by stress, which caused a hormone imbalance and affected my periods when I was unemployed from 2010 to 2012. I saw different consultants everytime from 2015 to 2019, who were foreign and very awful to me. They didn't believe me that the uterine fibroid was causing my pain. I was just given medication and had UAE to shrink the uterine fibroid, but these treatments didn't work. I just wanted the fibroid removed (laparoscopic myomectomy) but I just kept getting excuses or told to have a hysterectomy, which I didn't need or want. I was also told to go to Pain Clinic which I also didn't need, as this is more for muskoskeletal problems. I kept getting pushed from pillar to post, to different consultants who just kept fobbing me off and trying to get rid of me. I was dismissed in 2019. Other hospitals locally won't help me. I am now 55 nearly 56 and still suffering in excruciating pain with this uterine fibroid. I am still looking for treatment elsewhere. The Gynaecology Department is the worst department I have visited at Addenbrooke's especially if you are over 45. Women are expected to live in pain until the menopause when uterine fibroids should shrink or have a hysterectomy, which is an old-fashioned way women used to be told and this is still being used today. As I am 55 nearly 56, I am not menopausal and I don't believe all uterine fibroids shrink at the menopause. Attitudes towards women over 45 with uterine fibroids should be changed so they get the treatment they want and not dismissed.

   Poor management, lack of communication, and a shortage of nurses and surgeons experienced in the disease and its systemic impact. Endless waiting lists and MDT discussions. Patients with deep endometriosis, adenomyosis, and adhesions on organs and ligaments are often discharged to GPs after being offered hormone treatments, as if the condition would simply disappear. When patients ask questions, they receive no clear answers—especially regarding MRI results, where the response is often, *"we don't know."* There is no multidisciplinary follow-up covering all aspects of the disease, nor are patients provided with guidance, preventive measures, or referrals to supportive treatments such as pelvic physiotherapy, nutritional support, stress management, or quality resources like reliable forums or information sources. Personalized follow-up and surgical safety measures are essential to prevent further pain, infections, or the unnecessary removal of healthy tissue.
