AVOID AT ALL COST!!! Wild camping is legal in Scotland and a bus shelter will offer a better night's sleep. Staff rude on arrival, no reception, just barmaids behind the bar. No sockets by bed. One lamp of two didn't work. Light bulb in light above bed blindingly bright so on or off you couldn't see. Visible gap in window with draft bad enough to blow the curtains. Outdated furniture, somehow less finished than the examples already uploaded. Mould/water damage stain on walls and ceiling. Beyond questionable stains not only in the room but in all the hallways leading to it. Toilet lid stuck to the seat.... assuming by dirt. Shower dirty and brown. Bathroom couldn't fit a cat let alone swing one. Bathroom mirror too low for me to see (5'7"). No chair in room. No real coat hangers. Music played loud well past midnight, seemed to be a rock concert of some kind directly below in the function room, staff gave no warning of this when room was booked over the phone. Parking outside has to be moved by 8am. People fighting and screaming on the streets outside late at night, zero sound proofing. No hot water in shower. Sky TV only basic channels, even thoughs would go to static due to 'low signal' so effectively no TV. Cold tap nothing but a dribble. Hot tap come off the sink and was luke warm at best. Honestly we'd booked on the phone as a last minute decision after wild camping for a week, but my two man tent was better quality, and I'd have slept better upright in the car at the side of the M6. I was looking forward to a hot shower and some TV in bed, instead I was checking myself for bed bugs and listening to TV static and slipknot. Felt like an insane asylum. I "slept" fully dressed and left before 8am not that there's any staff there to wave you off in the morning to care. Room 3 but I doubt any room would offer quality.

Booked this hotel for Friday and Saturday evening. Over Β£100 per evening to stay in a hotel that has disco music vibrating the room on both nights until after one in the morning: would never ever stay here again. Also no breakfast includes

the βmanagerβ doesnβt know the difference between a real ID and a fake ID, even though she spoke to us about an hour before, police called and problem solved, held my ID without telling me when i could collect it, not much point in a bouncer if the bouncer thinks your ID Is good but the βmanagerβ thinks your ID is fake, when it wasnβt, avoid the place, unreal the amount of rude words said to us customers from the manager.

Like lego with no instructions. All the best of gear but no idea! Thereβs a brand new pool table, juke box, fruit machine and all the finest pints on tap. The issue is, itβs not executed well. The pool table is in the worst place possible. The selection of pints is average but theyβre not poured very well and also not chilled to the correct temperature. Long story short is that itβs great on paper but in reality itβs not very good. Iβd also like to add that the staff were rather miserable and it took almost 20 minutes for a member of staff to actually appear behind the bar and serve us.

Inexpensive accommodation with en suite. It's a 2 star hotel. Best value in the town if you're looking for a cheap night in Stonehaven. Who cares if you can't plug in the kettle and the TV at the same time. Who cares if there's no loo roll in the en suite it's not a big deal, just ask the staff for some or Go an buy some with the money you saved staying here. You get what you pay for.10 out of 10 from me.

Probably unfair to post just bad points. So to add some positivity to the previous review i will try and balance it out. ....Our room (room 2) was pleasant and bright, beds comfy and room clean, bathroom a little tired however nice powerful hot shower. The staff here are also super friendly and helpful. We also had room 1 - sadly a bit dark and dingy and in need of some TLC. The hotel has an excellent location a stones throw from the beach. I sadly wouldn't stay here again due to points raised in the previous review. If you want somewhere to crash after a skin full of booze at 2am then maybe this is the place for you . Sadly this wasn't why we were here.

Had an excellent dinner at the bistro. Amazing steak pie and sticky toffee pudding. There was a lovely atmosphere on a Saturday afternoon to watch a bit of rugby after a walk around the coast. Good pub grub, clean toilets, friendly staff. Good price too- most dinners between Β£6 and Β£14

We came for a meal last night (3 and a highchair) and I'm absolutely disgusted by the attitude of the chef/owner. Firstly, the food wasn't great. The person cooking it went from the bar to make it and he acted like we were causing him a hassle just by being there. Even though our food was below average we didn't complain as we didn't want to cause a fuss. The person serving us didn't seem to be bothered about us either as not once did he check on us during our meal. While we were there, 2 women came in and asked the server for a table, he looked at the owner who rudely gestured no right in front of them and so they were turned away awkwardly (bearing in mind this was only 6pm). Now for the part that has left us all absolutely disgusted and angry at this business. We were sitting in the separate part away from the bar- the only customers there-and my little girl who is only 10 months was sitting babbling away in her highchair. She was perfectly happy and didn't once cry. She made a noise and the owner shouted at her from through in the bar to shut up! I'm absolutely disgusted by this. I don't get how someone could do this to a baby, even if they were crying which she was not! Our experience was ruined not by the mediocre food or service but the disgusting attitude of this man. We will definitely never be back and will not recommend this place to anyone we know.
