   Visited The Boathouse today for a bite to eat, and I’m so glad I finally made it down. It’s easy to overlook since it’s tucked away off the main road, but what a hidden gem. The service was excellent, and the views over the marina and Portsmouth Harbour made the visit even better. The food was delicious and great value for money. Thank you — we’ll definitely be back soon!

   Unfortunately, having checked Google and the website, we walked a fair way to get here as it said open until 10pm. Arrived to find it closed at 8.45 with no sign up or anything. Looks like they had prepared for something on Sunday as bags stacked up but would have been good if a note was on the website or the like. Shame.

   Reserved a table at lunchtime on a weekday. Not overly busy when we arrived. Good selection of food and drinks. Service was quick. Car park is ticketed - ticket shown to the assistant, gave us sufficient time to enjoy our lunch without paying for parking.

   The location is excellent and the food is good, especially the Pizzas! The negative is the wait, a Pizza taking 45 mins is ridiculous but it appears delivery companies take priority over eat ins. Order a pizza 8.00pm, get it at 8.45pm then last orders at 8.50 pm. Whist still eating , chairs being stacked!!, and this on a Friday and Saturday night. Hours are unreliable, versus local hostelries which can be relied on, not confident for the winter.

   Breakfast with friends. We had mix of normal and vegan breakfasts. All very good, reasonably good portions. Apart from delay between order and serving, all excellent. Setting along marina opposite portsmouth dockyard on sunny warm morning, brilliant. Good tea and coffee. Black pudding are extra. Staff did not hurry us after meal.
