Disappointed to read some of the reviews for the Broadway. Myself, my wife and our two girls ate there yesterday. Nothing fancy. No Michelin stars. Just very good suitable menu for a seaside diner. Staff were all young ,nice and pleasant. Food was nice. Priced appropriately. But as a dining experience it has something that you can't reproduce easily. It's a fifty year old business that has authentic history and nostalgia. We ate there some years ago and it was nice to be there again. And I hope to be there again some time soon. I know how much hard work goes into running a food business. Most people haven't a clue how much effort goes into their plate. Anyway, I love the place and I'm thankful to the owners and staff.

We went into the cafe and immediately I realised the place was empty. 1st warning sign. We got the menus and had to wait 15 minutes for our order to be taken. All the workers were far too busy having a chat. We ordered 2 chicken fillet burgers ( definitely processed chicken, covered in grease and bland), 1 kids meal, and a "fresh" fish and chip. The fish must have been doing a back stroke in oil. I've genuinely never eaten such bad food in a cafe. The only good thing was that our drinks were cold. My husband is what I would call a human dustbin, and even he couldn't finish his food. Avoid at all costs...

Went with my family and was told to check for a table by the waitress, who didn't know if there was or wasn't. Got seated, no offer of a highchair and waited 15 minutes with menu in hand when smaller groups who came in after us had their orders taken and were being taken when my 5yo said buy to the girl who came and gave us the menus smiled, the girl who made us check for a free table smirked at my wife when serving a table that had just came in..Personally, I would avoid this place completely. Rumours say its cheap, unfortunately you can tell by the attitude of the staff. Very very bad service and feel from staff. I won't be back and will be telling others the same

Lovely wee cafe with very friendly staff. Would definitely recommend a visit, plenty of seats, including just a wee coffee nook and books available to read.

Old style cafe which doesn't appear to have changed much over the years but perfectly clean, staff were absolutely lovely each time we went in. Chips are freshly cut each morning and were so tasty, food is served in take away containers at takeaway prices, gluten free options available.

Proper old style, genuinely retro and unpretentious seaside café. I don't understand all its bad reviews; it's clean and well maintained. Someone commented that it looked like it was from the '80s but it predates the '80s and looks well for it. The owner has done well to keep it looking good with its Formica counter and terrazzo floors still in good condition, normally you see places this old and well maintained in other countries but in NI we tend to let them fall apart! I like it and hope it's around for along time to come.

The tables weren't cleaned until you had sat down and there wasn't much of a selection of food. The chips were nearly inedible and the drinks were warm and flat. The bathrooms were unsanitary. The toilet roll was wet and the bathroom looked like it had never been cleaned. Never visiting again.

The food was nice good quality food and the customer service was great there was not that many people in the restaurant at that time the social distancing was well executed by the staff and the merchant was following the social distancing guide lines

One of my absolute favourite places to eat in Newcastle, I've been here time and time again. Usually closed during the off peak season months which is unfortunate. But the food is great for the price and somewhere I will choose to come first. Try this gem of a place.
