Outstanding bar. Locals and staff were so friendly at the end of the Festival. Spent three hours there and loved every second. Best three hours on the island. Great landlady, bar staff and locals. Some good cask beer. Look forward to hopefully coming back next year.
Meh! All the tables were unkempt with previous customers empty glasses and spillage along the barwhilst barmaid looks on chomping on a packet of crisps. It's 5pm and the local characters are already half cooked putting music on the juke box. How did this get in the Good Beer Guide?
Update: the pub has now reopened, and is the same familiar bastion to local tipplers that it used to be. Now under the stewardship of Bea, she has plans for regular music and social activities. Excellent news! sad to confirm that the last town centre pub in East Cowes has indeed recently shut. With the recent loss of the Victoria Tavern, and the White Hart before that - a real tragedy and a loss for East Cowes... Maybe someone can be found to re-establish this quirky and always fun watering hole, like the ale house in Cowes..
Great atmosphere. I enjoyed great music and brilliant service. I've used this pub for years but tonight was the best ever. Keeps East Cowes rolling.
Stopped off while we were waiting for the ferry, so we were only in for half an hour, but this little pub was really welcoming and had a great atmosphere.
Great real ale. Proper small wet lead public house. It was a warm evening when we visited so we sat in the lane outside. Pleasant area for drinking. Will come back next time in town
Very nice small pub, great history of cask beers and It's in the 2022 good beer guide, reasonably loud music which was to my taste so not a distraction for me. And prices EXCELLENT!
Love this pub! The real ales, atmosphere, friendliness and location. Been playing gigs there since 2018 and hope to do a lot more, it's definitely one of the best on the Island.
