I was recommended this garage, as I needed a diagnostic due to an engine light coming on. I called up and spoke with the lady in the office and was booked in for Tuesday, I dropped the car off and got a call that afternoon explaining what they had found and given a quote. I booked in for the work that needed to be carried out and was pleased to be booked in, which was for the following Monday. Again, dropped the car off and had a call middle of the day to say job was completed and I could collect. Each step was explained and was informative. I am very thankful and happy with AMG Garage, from calling them to collecting the car after the work had been carried out. Highly professional and would definitely be recommending them! One very happy customer!

I’ve used AMG in the past with no problems and they’ve been a good garage. Unfortunately, my last experience has completely destroyed my trust. I booked in some work, which was delayed due to circumstances mostly outside their control. Inconvenient, but understandable. The bigger issue came when I returned to my car and found new dents and scratches on the rear bumper. For full disclosure, there was already some paint damage — but this new damage was obvious. Luckily I have CCTV showing my car leaving work undamaged the day before it went in, and CCTV at home proving nothing happened after they delivered it. So the damage occurred while it was in AMG’s care. When I raised it, I was first told “it wasn’t there when it left.” That position changed once they learned I had CCTV at home, where I was then asked if it was recovered to them, this doesn't seem relevant unless you were looking for another party to deflect blame to (it wasn't by the way). I was then told the car had only been parked in specific bays with nothing nearby that could have caused it. In reality, the car was parked on an industrial estate and moved around within a working garage — both environments with plenty of possible causes of damage, from other vehicles, trailers, or equipment. On top of that, I later discovered it had actually been taken offsite to another garage in Gosport for tracking, which I was never told about. That means anything could have happened either during transit or while it was in the hands of a third-party garage, adding yet more uncertainty and risk that AMG failed to disclose. I was also told, “I trust all of my guys, they would have told me.” I understand the sentiment, but given the initial denial of any damage and the later discovery that the car had been taken offsite without you disclosing this — something I wouldn’t have known without doing my own investigation — it’s difficult for me to simply accept that explanation. Even if the damage was caused by a third party, the Consumer Rights Act requires a garage to take reasonable care of vehicles in their possession. That means parking responsibly, being aware of damage, and keeping records. None of that happened here. By the time I returned and found the damage, CCTV from outside locations was no longer available to check for the cause of the damage. AMG also point to signs saying “vehicles left at own risk.” However, under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, a business cannot use notices or contract terms to avoid its basic duty to take reasonable care of a customer’s property. These rights are statutory and cannot be excluded. In addition, the precedent in Olley v Marlborough Court Ltd established that exclusion clauses introduced after a contract has already been made are unenforceable. My contract with AMG was formed when I accepted their quote, so not only can the signs not override consumer law, they were never part of our agreement in the first place. To be clear, I’m not expecting a brand-new bumper — the law says I shouldn’t be better off than before. But AMG should accept liability for the additional damage they caused or failed to prevent. Instead, they have denied all responsibility.I don’t have the time or money to take legal action over what amounts to £50–£150 worth of damage, so I am leaving this review and reporting the matter to Trading Standards for the breach of the unfair contracts act and the consumer rights act. Reply (A lot of the facts are cut down due to character limits): You’ve said there’s “no way of proving either way.” CCTV proves the damage occurred in your care, making how it happened irrelevant—either you caused it or failed to exercise reasonable care under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. False claims were made: “It didn’t leave here damaged,” “Nothing here could have caused it,” and “We aren’t liable due to signs.” These deflections show misinformation and deceit; driving me to leave this review. I also note your response didn’t address your signage—Have you realised it has no legal weight, or did you know that all along?

Can’t highly recommend this garage enough! They’ve always been fantastic towards me with every MOT and service including any issues throughout the year, they are never bothered about any silly little questions that i have had and are always happy to help with anything big or small. i recommended them to a family member as well and he couldn’t fault them either.

My first experience of this established Garage after a recommendation. Very impressed that they were able to solve my electrical problem promptly. Very nice reception ladies who were very helpful, and the job was decent value for money too. Only drawback is the lack of parking so best advice is to get there early. Overall I would happily recommend, and I will definitely use them again.
