Absolutely stinks of sewage. Has done for at least a year. Unacceptable for a well known supermarket brand.

Good little shop but absolutely stinks. There is a plumbing issue that the management need to sort out. Hopefully reviewing on here will let the higher ups know that the smell of faeces is driving customers away.

I decided to share my horrible ,disgusting experience at this shop A couple of days ago I went to buy some coffee Next day I realised that I bought the wrong coffee(decaf) My mistake was that I didn’t took the receipt thing that I believe 95% of the people don’t do. I went next day to ask if I can change it the security guard was chasing one person who was at the time going out with the basket hence the reason I didn’t show the pack of coffee The inexperienced girl from the till told me they are not selling that coffee in the shop then I’ve gently asked to come with me and show her that they do(I found it funny as she didn’t use common sense) Then she asked me if I’ve showed the pack of coffee to the guard. Explained her why and she asked me for the receipt ,explained her I have done a mistake and I didn’t took the receipt Then she talked to her manager The manager came and asked me the same questions which again I found it a non sense I repeat myself and showed him the Clubcard app that I went there last night and actually almost every day He was rude when he told me he never seen me there and asked other colleagues and the security guard if anyone seen me before ,in front of other customers,as I was the most dangerous criminal and shoplifter maybe because English is not my first language? He was judging me because of my accent? Maybe he was racist? Don’t know .. It was a horrible experience for me and I am still thinking of that. In the end he told me that he cannot do anything for me because I don’t have the receipt . I have told him that he should use common sense if he’s a manager and he should have people skills. I then give him the coffee I have paid the night before and left Maybe he can make us of that coffee and think clearly . Horrible experience I wish that Tesco could hire more people with common sense not robots and rude inexperienced staff. I had an issue at Waitrose with some items that were having 2 different prices and the lady from the till gave me a voucher for the difference I had to pay at the till. Well that’s what I call , a good shopping experience ,everyone very polite and gentle .

The shop itself is fine as tescos go - typical range and generally good selection. It’s a little bit dark in there, I’m not sure why and always feels a little bit dingy compared to some other chain shops. However they are refurbishing at the moment. I just hope they get the same staff back in there because they are really excellent and a lot of fun!

Excellent staff! I don't normally shop here but I walked in today as I was sauntering around town. Two white (and likely English) customers of maybe around 50 were being loud and obnoxious (and racist, by the sound of it), but I can't rule out that only one of them was the problem. Hats off to the staff. I noticed that the hands of one of them seemed to be shaking a little bit but she kept smiling and stayed calm (and she said that this kind of thing didn't happen often). The two men who were security or perhaps a manager and security (as different garb) handled the situation very very well. Everyone stayed calm, the two customers left the store and the loud guy even tossed the 12-pack of beers back and didn't walk out of the store without paying for it. He seemed extremely stressed about something that had nothing to do with the Tesco. He probably needed to vent and he was looking for someone to get angry with. Been there done that. Portsmouth can be a hard place to live in and always being required to keep a stiff upper lip is an impossible and unhealthy balancing act. Or maybe it was just the hot weather... Me, I grabbed the last cool Budweiser.

I can only say that Debbie is one of the most amazing, caring shop workers I have ever come across, she always helps me with packing my bag and any queries I may have. After learning that I have just lost my husband she has given me a hug every time I shop. This lady is one in a mlion. Well done Tesco

As a small local Tesco it stocks all of the necessary basics at excellent fair prices. The staff are pleasant, helpful and efficient. The baskets on wheels are ideal if you have your own shopping trolley. Some things for me are too high to reach as I am 5' 2" with a slight mobility problem but staff or customers help. Otherwise, excellent.
