Outstanding pub! If you like tradition, good beer, proper conversation then this is the place for you. Thankfully totally unspoiled by dreadful ‘modernisation’ schemes that have utterly devastated so many pubs. This is not the place to take children or phones.
No food served so ignore the food rating i left. The pub is nice, its old and yeah its quiet and laid back, ignore comments about bad atmosphere, only a pub for regulars etc this simply isnt true. You will have no issues if you arent an idiot, yes you will get told off for using ur phone, for swearing, blasting music etc, its a sam smiths pub, thats how they all are and have always been, its not some chav pub, if you cant abide by the well known rules just dont go lmao.
My first time trying a Sam Smiths pub and I did like it. Its very different to all other pubs due to no mobile phones, no children etc, its a place to chat. This particular pub is down a narrow alley, just look out for the large blue bell to the right of Trinity Market entrance on Market Place. Nice friendly staff, the pub had a real coal fire which was rather nice and some good ales and a Sam smiths cider which was good. I would recommend this pub if you want a proper traditional pub experience free from digital extractions of modern life
The Ye Olde Blue Bell is a traditional unspoiled Sam Smith's pub tucked away down a narrow alleyway between the entrance to the market and the Hepworth Arcade. It's a nice cosy pub with the usual Sam Smith's own brand beers and lagers no guest beers. Like other Sam Smith's pubs no mobile phones or electronic devices allowed, no swearing no music, no dogs.
Fantastic bar always call here when we visit hull for our ferries trip ... BlueBell is always the first stop .great atmosphere great beers..great prices and friendly bar staff!!
Really enjoyed my couple of pints here on a trip to Hull a few months ago. Great beer in a fantastic, authentic atmosphere. Got chatting to a couple of the regulars and the lady on the bar as well - a rare experience in pubs today. Highly recommend
This is a very traditional tavern. This is a place for a refreshing beer with minimal modern attitudes and habits. You are welcome to relax and ditach yourself from the modern world 'without' your electronic devices and join in on the conversation or sit and read your paper. NO swearing, NO shouting or any unsocial behaviour. 'That's the rules!!!' should you forget these conditions, you will quickly reminded!!!!!! So, rewind the years and enjoy a pint without any modern interruptions, it's a real treat!
Very old pub and great beers on sale. Bar staff are very welcoming and helpful. Would certainly recommend it to anyone
