A beautiful day for a walk and to visit the place that was one of my late father's favourite spots. The sunbeams shone through the trees right on to the little glade where we left flowers as it was his birthday and Remembrance Sunday. So peaceful and stunning, it really felt like he was with us.

A beautiful NT garden, most especially in early/ mid Spring when their famous rhodendrean bushes are in full bloom. Deceptively larger than first appears, it has a beautiful walled garden and surrounds as well as walks in the surrounding garden area. A good cafe with lovely outdoor space is complemented with picnic tables if you want to ' bring your own'. A small but well stocked bookshop is beside the cafe. For dog owners there is a great sage free run area, but be mindful of other dogs and their temperament. Don't forget to get a pooch passport and get it stamped. Rowallane is the HQ of NT in NI. It's a great pity it lacks an NT shop, ( however these can seem very expensive). The lasting impression is of Rowallane staff making this venue as accessible, beautiful and interesting as possible. Downsides? On special days and events parking can be chaotic. As a venue it is not set up for large numbers of visitors and cars, people, children, pets and the general clamour takes away from a venue best served by peace and tranquility.

Wonderful walled gardens. Beautiful deep flower beds, lots of different hydrangeas, ferns, roses, lovely edible and herb gardens. Lovely setting in extensive rolling grounds with champion trees around- worth finding the rock/gravel garden and the other planted areas within the larger grounds Lovely beef sausage rolls in the little cafe too.

We fancied a winter walk this morning and we weren't disappointed. The sun shone but there was a crispness in the air to remind us it definitely wasn't summer. The car park was surprisingly busy but we only passed a few people on the walk. We made our way to the House for sausage rolls and tea and it hit the spot. The cafe was quite busy but we got a table. There is a separate area where you can purchase second hand books. The quality is excellent and the prices likewise. It works on an honesty box principle so you don't have to go looking for somewhere else to pay for your purchases We are National Trust members and look forward to coming back in the Spring when there is a bit more colour about .

Gardens were in bloom, and weather was nice. I didn't get to see much as I hurt my back, and had to return to the car. Looked very nice. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Lots of dogs about, but NO dog mess, which is always a good thing.

Such a lovely place. Visit the garden, listen to easy live music on a Saturday afternoon, take a stroll in the beautiful gardens, play around with your kids or let your dog run around in the designated field. And of course: there are excellent places for your picnic and you can even borrow a blanket from the café.

Just recently received National Trust membership as a gift and this is my second use. So far I'm really impressed. Rowallen garden is so stunning at this time of year...with lots of little hidden places to explore. Plenty of seats available throughout the gardens so you can sit and relax and soak in the views and lots of areas suitable for picnicking. Toilets and cafe are fresh and clean with plenty of outdoor dining. Dogs are welcome.

Lovely gardens with something for everyone. Look forward to going back in the summer to see everything in full bloom. Our toddler son loved it. Also the dog exercise area is really big and safe. The house is set up well with some interesting history and a nice cafe. Plenty of picnic tables outside, even though it was sunny with plenty of folk around.
