This is an older hotel in an interesting classic style. Our room was exactly as expected and was large. The bathroom had been beautifully renovated but some people would struggle to step over the bath into the shower. Disappointingly, there was only instant coffee in the room but there were lots of herbal teas. It was difficult to pull the curtains, and there is no airconditing. The location of the hotel is a 15 minute walk to lots of restaurants and 4 supermarkets. I also walked into town along the seafront which too 40 minutes.

Rooms are very spacious and nicely decorated. My room was up 3 flights of stairs, so a bit difficult to access, but the hotel staff kindly helped me with my bags. One of the young ladies at check-in was less friendly, and she really struggled with my request for slightly late check out (by 15-30 mins), but everyone else was very helpful and friendly. Quite a bit of hair (not mine) in the bathroom, so a little more attention to cleaning would be advised. I would probably stay here again.

We have just returned from 5 weeks on the road in France and Spain. Where we stayed in overpriced, small, less than clean rooms. Wow what a refreshing change at Somerset House. Large, bright, clean, well equipped rooms and an excellent breakfast at a very reasonable price. The staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. Highly recommend

Room nice but wardrobe no second handle, bath had damage one that could have been easily fixed. Parking a nightmare I think just from experience we paid £200 we can normally get a sea view for that price. Just don't feel it was value for money, yes you spent time talking to me but was expecting outstanding and it wasn't. Updating review because just stayed at a hest western at Bristol to go to longleat £81 breakfast another £12 each but well worth it

Very special Bed and Breakfast in Portsmouth - they renovated several buildings - we were at Sumer set house right across the street to the Breakfast bar - they had a variety of delicious food to choose. The concierge was so nice - we came with a camper an - so the access to a parking place was not easy to find in the street - so the manager removed his car! Walking distance to many restaurants an the sea with pier.

Pros - Beautiful spacious room. Very clean and comfortable. Modern bathroom with a large shower. Excellent breakfast choices, all well cooked. Very good location for the hovercraft and not far for major shopping in Portsmouth. Cons - The rooms are in a separate building to the reception and dining room. There are stairs everywhere so not good if you struggle. Parking is a major issue. The hotel has a few spaces but most is on street and difficult to find. The in room spa is a great idea but the masseuse was late with no apology. The set up was hurried and felt stressful and the massage was average.

This hotel advertises its self as boutique. We did not experience a boutique hotel. We were placed in one of the outlying houses. The room was fairly big. But the toilet was separate from the bathroom with no sink. It was like a cubby hole. So small that you had to back into it and sit straight on the toilet. There is no fridge, no coffee machine, no free water. The decoration was pretty, the chests of draws were cute. However. It lacks professional finish, there are wonky plug sockets on the wall for the TV. The light switches are not attractive or subtle and the wires are not chases into the wall. Just covered by plastic covering. There's no light over the tucked away mirror. The radiator was a little rusty, as was the shaving mirror. This hotel room would be fine and a good price if it was £80. At £185.00 through hotels.com very overpriced, maybe we could have found it at a better price? There were no luxuries but the room was clean, the bed comfortable. Would we stay here again? No. Not unless they stepped up to living up to their promises.
