   Super friendly owner, very helpful. It's a help yourself to arrive with a key waiting place. So can arrive anytime after the check in time. Beautiful location in a small remote village. Great base for hiking trips. Village has a small store with most essentials. 10 min drive to the next town. Don't be me and forget to leave cash for the room payment before you leave.

   Magnificent Mountain Lodge - the Mourne lodge is nestled just below the Mourne mountains and offer cosy accomodation fit for families, hikers as well as couples wishing to explore the area. The staff were friendly and accommodating making us feel right at home. The surrounding beauty and short drive to the town of Kilkeel made it an ideal stay.

   Where going for three nights at the mourne lodge Hotel in kilkeel as I use a walking stick and have a mobility scooter to get around we where able to book a room on the ground floor liked it so much that we got an extra night our car broke down so the owner of the hotel drove us to different places to see we went to speelca dame and silent valley and to the restaurants in the town on two of the days for dinner then with the extra day we took the 405 mourne rambler bus the bus stop is at the shop just two doors down from the hotel we were at and got the bus into Newcastle and spent the day and the buses have ramps on them as I was on my mobility scooter was able to get on the bus so over all it was a good trip away

   This lodge is perfectly tucked away near to the beaten path. We called Mairead the morning we needed a place and she was so quick and happy to accommodate us. She personally welcomed us and made us feel so at home. The beds were clean and comfortable, the rooms private and spacious, the self-catering kitchen well stocked, and the cosy common room with fire the perfect end to a drive in the dusky rain! Calling the lodge and speaking to someone directly was ideal as it allowed Mairead to cater perfectly to our needs as a group, and for her to fit us in around unexpected cancellations. Please take the time to stay at Mourne Lodge! You absolutely won’t regret it.

   Myself and a group of friends spent the weekend mountain biking in the area and the Mourne was perfect for our needs. We went to the Newcastle for some food at night and Mairead made us breakfast the next day and it was great. This was the second time I stayed here and I will be back again.

   Really great community run Hostel in beautiful surroundings. Ideal spot for those who love hill walking or touring Northern Ireland. Clean comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was very reasonable and the hostess was a gem of a lady. She chatted to use while we ate telling us about the community and the beauty that surrounds them.

   Stayed here with a few friends back in August and not a week goes by that I don't think about how much I enjoyed it. Wonderful place in a quiet town, nestled in breathtaking mountains. Has everything you could need in your travels, including a full kitchen. And if they didn't have what you need, Mairead was the type of host who would go to the ends of the earth to find it for you! Beds were comfortable and the showers were hot. Had a full breakfast in the morning (my first time having porridge and stewed vegetables, which were delicious!) and received recommendations for nearby hikes. If I ever have the chance to go back, I surely will.
