Big thank you to the staff at the G&D who helped us this evening when my wife fell ill (she's out of hospital and feeling better.) Wonderful people who couldn't have been kinder or more helpful.
We held a Christmas buffet in the back room for 25 of us. It was lovely. The food was super, probably the best I have had, the room wonderfully decorated and there was a great atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Lovely staff and a great location, but our room was poor. The room was badly painted, toilet buttons broken, but worst of all was the hardest bed I have ever slept on. I think the floor may have been softer! Rooms need an update if you are charging £130 a night.
I am new to submitting reviews but I feel I must write a few words to thank the staff and record our one night stay in george and dragon, chichester. It was unexpectedly warm and welcoming. We stayed in room 5 on the ground floor which had twin beds with clean linen, comfy mattresses and pillows, and a good, clean bathroom with hot shower. Breakfast was continental with an adequate spread. Could have more options offered, such as eggs or a full English. On the whole, great value for money:) we would be happy to return. Gurjinder
The atmosphere is more of a roadhouse or traveler's inn as opposed to a hotel. The accommodations are adequate and the location is great (with the exception of parking). The room was clean, had a nice water heater for coffee; the bed was sufficiently large and comfortable for a night stay. The staff was very friendly and efficient and we were able to stay on the ground floor for baggage although the upstairs room requires a climb with your luggage. The downside is the room is adjacent to the outdoor seating area of a bar and as the alcohol consumption increases, so does the volume and intensity of conversation. There was still noise from inside the bar after10pm. There is no onsite parking which requires attention to the meter during daylight hours.
Fantastic place to stay. Especially if you are going to see anything at The Chichester Festival Theatre, just a short walk away. Excellent pub too, with a great choice of beers to choose from. Will definitely stay again.
A last minute stay in Chichester with my partner as a little get away. Rooms are simple in decor and an adequate size for a night or two stay. The pub part has a decent amount of seating and a nice selection of drinks. We ate elsewhere in the evening but did get talking to people there for a meal when we came back for drinks and the food smelt and looked lovely, and I'm told they enjoyed their food. The manager is an absolute laugh and is very personable, polite and easy to approach. The rest of the staff definitely reflected this personality. We don't live far so have already said we would come stay the night and have dinner again.
The room was fine, bed was comfortable and the beer was cool. It was a stinking hot day and this hotel is not air-conditioned and the one fan provided did a very poor job of cooling the room down. Also their kitchen isn’t open Monday and Tuesday which I somehow missed when doing the booking. Breakfast was perfect
The hotel scores well on price, location (central Chichester) and friendly staff. Be aware that the pub is busy and rooms are beside the outdoor smoking area, so they are noisy and smoky. Poor rating because of general shabbiness (not painted in ten years, I guess) and lack of maintenance (bathroom plug can only be operated by reaching underneath basin), some of it dangerous (live socket dangling out of wall concealed behind bed, hotel obviously aware as lamp had been un-plugged)
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was a small one and in fairness has a lot to offer. It met my needs which was good. The hotel has character and one could see that the rooms were added to a pub and restaurant which were in the old stables which gave a very different feel to other places I have stayed in. Using a few hotels now at this price I would say it was not the best but my experience of this hotel is at the bottom of my top third of stays in other comparable places. Certainly better than the experience from Premier Inn and Travel Lodge. The worse is the Easy Group of Hotels. It did have a feel of a very young owner and there can be no doubt that it will improve over the next few years to be a very desirable overnight stay. Certainly worth staying there.
