This shop is at the heart and soul of the village. The staff are always super helpful, chatty, and always take time to chat. The post office is very busy and I post a lot but it's always handled very well. It's always friendly when you go in. Superb staff.
Extremely expensive shop! some prices are almost double every other they are constantly running out of stock for bread and milk and things like bread are always nearly out of date if they have it. Sometimes it's a struggle to move for cages and can't access isles. Sometimes takes an age to served.
Absolutely dreadful. Rude chap works there who has twice refused to take parcels & he has 0 customer service skills. Appalling. Place is rammed with parcels/cages/people most of the time total health/fire safety nightmare. You could not achieve a worse shopping experience if you tried.
Very Convenient If Your In The Area Has Everything You Might Need. Some Lovely Staff Members :) My Only Issue Is That I've Had 2 Of The Women Being Rude Towards Me And Asking Me Personal Questions Which Made Me Feel Very Uncomfortable
Been to this shop a few times while visiting the area. All the staff are very polite and was very helpful when looking for certain items that I could not find. The lady behind the counter that served me was very polite and actually asked me how my day was and general chat.
Saturday 11th January 2020. Went into McColl's in Swanland to buy some stuff. Lady that "served" me at the till stood sideways on to me the whole time talking away with her colleagues about what they were doing that weekend. No eye contact, no acknowledgement of my presence, total disinterest. I paid by card, no receipt offered so I asked for one, at least this got a look from her even if it was one of annoyance at actually having to tear herself away from chattering. I won't be going back here - I'll be going to Co-Op in North Ferriby instead where the staff are great and service isn't something that has been binned.
I'd love to give this village shop 5* because there are some fantastic and friendly people that work there. It's very convenient and they have a good selection of food. The one thing that isn't so nice is the gossiping about other colleagues that goes on in front of customers as they are being served. It's almost like the customers are part of the conversation. It's awkward and unprofessional and should stop. I understand that everyone gets frustrated sometimes at work and needs to talk about it, but please do this when customers aren't around.
