Nice chips. The chicken goujons were lovely and had a nice batter on them. There's really not much to complain about. I would recommend, however, that you ask them to go a bit easier on the salt. The last time I got mine, it was flooding with salt.

We visited Joe's Hot Spot for a late lunch after a visit to the Exploris Aquarium. What started as a quick bite to eat before we set off became a lovely experience and a treat of delicious food. The owner is a very friendly chap, and the food was really delicious. The battered fish that I ordered from the menu was coated with a flavorsome and crunchy batter, whilst the fish inside was soft and juicy. Whatever their magic is, it kept the batter from being too soggy and bland with frying oil whilst also giving the batter a flavor of its own. Definitely one of our favorite places for fish and chips, well worth a visit. We look forward to going again when we next visit Portaferry.

Have to say went down to try two for one burgers on burger day... were we happy, most certainly. Burgers were great as were the chips and the onion rings. A lovely tea!

Joe’s Hot Spot saved the day after arriving into Portaferry after 9 at night on a Tuesday, it was the only place open. Joe cooked up a nice hearty takeaway for us. The service wasn’t the fastest but worth the wait. Would recommend the popcorn chicken and the chicken goujons.
