I had brought my late mother’s jewellery in to have re-designed so I would have one piece to wear rather than have several different worn pieces. The work and time Barabara’s staff gave me over this was so meaningful, particularly Rhiannon her empathy shown was heartfelt. The finishing piece actually brought me to tears, it’s exactly what I was expecting if not more, it’s absolutely beautiful beyond words. I would 100% recommend to anyone Thank you again for your time, patience and empathy Very very happy customer

I can’t rate Barbara Tipple highly enough. The service was exceptionally kind, personal, and thoughtful from start to finish. I bought a pendant for my wife, and it was truly something special — full of local character and beautifully made using a stone from Southsea beach. It felt far more meaningful than buying a mass-produced piece; there was a real sense of connection to the place and to the story behind the jewellery. Supporting a local maker and buying a piece with a sense of place was a big part of the experience; Barbara made that feel genuinely valued. A wonderful jeweller offering unique pieces with heart and originality.

My wedding ring was designed by Barbara over 26 years ago, it is covered with intricate gold wire work and I love it. I went back recently to see if I could have it made slightly larger as my fingers aren't as skinny these days. This was discussed in detail and Barbara phoned me herself to double check and talk me through the process, as it would not be an easy ring to resize. However, when I collected it, it was perfect, and was polished and looked new again. Very happy!

My journey with Barbara Tipple began 21 years ago when my husband presented me with her Wave series necklace and earrings for a wedding gift, classic yet unique. Stunning as the jewelry in her shop is, working with her to design a bespoke piece is a true joy. She took time to get to know me a little and has actually incorporated one of my suggestions in other pieces (or she at least made me feel like she did…which is far more important!) I’m glad she was born in Gosport instead of Mayfair. We are lucky to have Barbara Tipple in Southsea.

A recent visit to Barbara’s award-winning jewellers in Southsea was an absolute delight. My sister and I had the pleasure of working closely with Barbara to design a beautiful pair of bespoke earrings. Her knowledge, patience, and creative insight made the entire process feel both special and effortless. From initial sketches to final design choices, Barbara guided us thoughtfully, always respectful of our preferences and mindful of our budget. It was a genuinely memorable experience—one that combined craftsmanship with care.

Barbara is one of the most wonderful artists you could ever wish to work with. I have commissioned a few pieces with her (varying in price) and she put every ounce of love and thought into looking for the right stone for the pieces despite the price difference. She really surprised me when she recommended a stone that was significantly less in price because to her "it just looked better". Visiting her is always so enjoyable as she will happily talk all about the process, the pieces, the stones and her various funny stories from her career. She is brilliantly eccentric and an expert like no other which is what makes her such a creative designer. My partner and I got engaged recently and he took me to Barbara to have my ring made. They picked the stone together, as I overlooked, and David her husband and goldsmith made it there and then (luckily, he already had the basics of the ring). An hour and a half later the ring was made and they gave us a lift to the station so we could still make our reservation, if that's not customer service, I don't know what is! Also, what isn't mentioned is Barbara's and David's philathropic nature, they hold a Christmas Charity party each year which always raises a significant sum. Thank you, Barbara, I can't wait to have our wedding rings made xx

I observed a lovely wedding band in the shop window of Barbara Tipple Jewelers. I then enquired about the cost which turned out to be above my budget. I was advised that with certain adjustments I could have a similar ring made within my budget. The service was outstanding and I did not at any time feel that I was being pressured into the purchase. I met with the designer Barbara herself, who went through several options/designs with me. I left a very pleased and satisfied customer.
