  1. The Powells ★★★★☆

Lovely small cosy very clean cottage. Dog friendly (downstairs). New build so well insulated and underfloor heating on ground floor (also great for drying wet boots) along with log burner (which we didn't use as so warm in house). Comfy beds, electric showers (so unlimited hot water) and spa bath (which we didn't use). New bathrooms and kitchen. Parking outside and round back. Good walks directly from door (and Lathkill Dale which is very pretty was 10mins drive away). Pub at end of road but nothing else in village. Good location - 15 mins drive to Buxton/Eyam/Bakewell. Only a few minor niggles - no light above sink so hard to wash up in the dark. Built in fridge/freezer isn't attached to cupboard door so you need to open 2 doors every time you open fridge/freezer. Only 4 of all crockery and no dish washer so you need to wash up often (sometimes between courses). Can't put your legs under dining table properly due to its design. Bedrooms pretty small Some reviews have complained about lack of TV signal. We didn't have any problems. We also took our firestick so watched netflix etc through that Overall a great stay and we'd go back

So the Positives: - Dog friendly with enclosed garden - Modern property; nicely equipped, even had a washing machine, ironing board, clothes airer, travel sized hairdryer (although got very hot quickly) & Dyson hoover. - Car Parking to the rear - Wine within the purchase if wanted. - Woodburner - Underfloor heating - Access to seperate 'paddock' area.. great to let the dog off the lead safely; shame about the dog poo left by others. - Owners live in the road, close by and knowledgeable. The Negatives: The Location: - Chelmorton itself wasn't the village we envisaged, more of a small road with a pub at one end, no other amenities. - Whilst there were walks nearby, public transport was poor therefore we had to use the car, unlike other places we stayed in Peak District. So for us the location of the property was not ideal. The Property: - The property must been on a flight path, airplanes could be heard loudly at night. - Whilst bins, no recycling options. - The wood for the woodburner appeared to be laminate unit with locking mechanism, not wood. If used the note requested that we purchase wood to replace. - The bath jets pumped out black bits and the extractor was either not working or not strong enough. - Rear window had no blind, therefore open to the car park.. lacked privacy. - Blu Tac on fridge door - Greater attention to detail may be needed; I.e. Toilet seat & toilet roll holder and open used coffee & sugar with bits in.

Wonderful little cottage, great location for walks and a nice pub short walk up the road. Small dog friendly. The use of their private field/meadow was a really nice touch to take the dog a walk. A clean, cozy and charming long weekend away.

Lovely cottage, very well equipped, clean and comfortable. There's a lovely, dog friendly pub in the village and it does fantastic food.

We had an absolutely superb stay here with our dog. Perfectly located in the lovely village of Chelmorton. The cottage was very well kept, modern in the right places, and in keeping with the Derbyshire country setting. The owners were very helpful from the point of booking, and offered a very nice info pack when we arrived. Luckily we didn't need to call on them for help at any point, but the info booklet provided contact details and the invitation to get in touch if needed. The back garden was perfect for our little dog, as it was well enclosed, meaning he couldn't escape through any little gaps, and to add to the space available for doggo, the cottages also come with exclusive access to a large meadow nearby, where dogs are free to run off the lead. There was also ample parking at the rear of the property - a bonus for us alongside the enclosed garden. Genuinely couldn't have asked for any more for our stay. Highly recommended!
