Beautiful, really spacious room, nicely decorated. Everything was clean and the bed and sheets were really comfortable. The property felt cosy and smelled pleasant. Kettle and plenty of tea and coffee were provided. The bathroom was also really nice and a good size. Good location, closed to the town centre and some nice walking trails. Didn’t have any issues with noise levels, couldn’t hear the other guests on our floor from our room. Checked in ourselves using the instructions we got by email so didn’t actually interact with any staff during our stay, which wasn’t an issue. Only complaint is that wifi signal wasn’t very good in our room.

The stairs are exhausting if on the top floor, we were in room 7, ensuite. Beware the parking fuhrer at Braemar down the road, thinks he owns the space in front of his guest house while he has ample parking for guests on his drive. I moved my car as he looked the type to damage it if I didnt. Parking is limited outside Compton GH. Very comfortable bed although very high, beautiful but small ensuite but we loved our stay. Breakfast would be an amazing addition! Pooch friendly too, bonus!

Beaut guest house, lovely staff. Decorated beautifully throughout with modern rooms and the most comfortable bed. Lots of tea and coffee on hand in the room, as well as a selection of toiletrys being available in the bathroom. We had a room with a shared bathroom, which was not a problem what so ever, the whole place was pristine and absolutely spotless. Everything you need is just down to the road. Lovely selection of pubs, bars shops and restaurants all within walking distance. Excellent stay for the price, will defo be returning. They were so accommodating for my friends dog, such a lovely place to stay. We had the best time during our stay and so glad we visited for the night.

Compton Guest House is ideally located for easy access into Buxton Town. It is on a quiet street. The Poole Canverns are also close by and well worth a visit. There is also a lovely park close by that's leads to the pavilion and onto the crescent where it is possible to sample the famous Buxton spring water. If travelling back to Buxton would return to this lovely guest house.

First impressions of the guest house were all good. Nicely decorated, quiet street, clean throughout, tidy rooms awaiting their guests and a hassle free self check in. Owner was friendly on arranging arrival. However it quickly became apparent as my stay became less than I expected. Mostly the noise. If you sleep light, consider this when booking and bring ear plugs. Firstly there was inexplicably no breakfast available. The walls are also very thin and while the place can't control how considerate guests are, there perhaps could be more emphasis on the quiet atmosphere being upheld at all times as a policy. Both my neighbouring rooms were intent on keeping me awake late, and up early with inconsequential, loud phone conversations and chatter into the night and early morning banging about as they left. The windows are also single glazed so any noise from the street is yours too. There's no plug or light by the beds. The small dresser light in my room was also not working. Tea and coffee facilities are basic. The vintage TV in my room was also next to inoperable with only one channel. Requires a new remote. Rooms are also cold, with no ability to control when the heating comes on. So my first night was not only loud, but cold. One of the staff did provide a blanket when I requested. The place could be nice if they addressed these things and insisted guests are considerate of their noise, provide a breakfast option shown at the time of booking and some maintenance on room facilities. I can't fault the cleanliness and tidiness, even of the shared bathroom which was convenient and well equipped.

A true gem! A very decent guest house run by family owners, rooms are super cosy and neat, they offer double and triple room occupancy, the double bedroom we had, had its own private bathroom. Would definitely recommend this place for a calm stay in while you are visiting Buxton and peak district!
