“I promised to take the Missus away for a nice break and had often noticed some great deals posted in the window. I went in last Sunday and although there was a bit of a wait I was invited over by a jolly nice lady who took the time to fully explain what was on offer. Our requirements didn't quite fit the offers in the window so the eventual price was much higher than expected. Nevertheless, the agent was very knowledgeable and helpful, which meant we'd avoid problems further down the line. Tania managed to find a nice boutique hotel which should keep the Missus happy. Although she hadn't personally been to Morocco Tania was able to give some very useful advice about our holiday. So that's the flights and accommodation sorted. I'm packed already and all I've got to do is find a tour guide who'll take my Missus around the market. I simply must give the update now that we're back. There's much to say and if I was brief, I wouldn't do it justice. We had a pleasant flight but the 3 hour queue to get through passport control at the other end was torture. Our shuttle dropped other holiday makers outside shiny nice new hotels. My beloved Missus nearly died when we pulled up around midnight at the entrance to a dingy back alley. Then a nice Moroccan chap placed our luggage onto an old wooden cart and wheeled ahead of us into the darkness. The Missus was beginning to suspect that I had played a joke and booked the holiday for my own benefit. Undeterred I encouraged her to follow us to the door of our guest house. We were invited in by the nicest young Moroccan guy with a slight American accent. Upon entering I was in my element. I thought the Riad Explore looked amazing. My beloved Missus was still reeling and set about accusing our hosts of misrepresentation, whilst I went off to explore. My first night in Morocco was spent drinking sweet mint tea on the roof terrace, staring at the stars. The following day our host promised that despite her initial impressions my Missus would enjoy her stay. Fortunately, our guest house was a short five minute walk to the main market square which meant we saved money on transport and excursions. The Missus absolutely loved shopping and bartering with the locals. My legs are still aching from standing around outside market stalls. She's already planning to go back but I refuse to spend any more than one day wandering around that blasted market.”
