We took the Mother-in-law for a light lunch. Tea and cake, plus a couple of baguettes and coffee. Okay the restaurant was half full, but we waited 40minutes for our order. No apologises from the waiting staff at any time for the wait. I was happy with quality of the food but i was so annoyed with the wait i had lost my appetite. We were going to try the Sunday lunch but not now. Sorry.

My two stars are for the lovely and reasonably priced food and staff in the cafe which is dog friendly - we have three dogs so so far so perfect. Me, my partner and mother in law have just been there for lunch and to buy some shrubs (again good quality and reasonably priced). However my praise stops there. At the checkout the manager who confirmed he was the new owner having taken over from his dad, couldn’t have been ruder. At the till is a little bowl full of fairly small dog biscuits. While my partner was paying for the shrubs we had bought, I took the dogs out to the car. My partner picked up three of the little biscuits, one for each of our dogs, to be told by the owner “the idea is you just take one not a handful“. My partner said she took one biscuit for each of our three dogs, to be told that we had only brought one dog in with us, which was wrong. Regardless, how rude. In fact the biscuits were obviously quite insipid and one of our dogs didn’t want it. We were half minded to take it back and offer it back to this person as dog biscuits and their consumption are clearly at the top of his agenda. How not to leave a nice impression with potential customers. We certainly won’t be going back to Ambleside nurseries again. A shame because we have been going there for years but c’est la vie. Ps I have a picture of said biscuit but there isn’t the facility to post pictures.

Enjoyed a visit on a Bank Holiday whilst on a cycle ride. I went into the restaurant and enjoyed a piping hot portion of chunky chips and baked beans with a pot of tea, reasonably priced too. I would like to have an afternoon tea one day. Great service and friendly staff. There's lots of things to buy in the shop. Good choice of plants etc.

After visiting Earlswood garden centre and being underwhelmed I went onto to Ambleside. Found the plant I wanted AND a great selection of sale plants in good order. Could hardly carry them all. Then a pot of tea and a scone served promptly with a smile - so much better than the visit to the cafe in other garden centre. Highly recommended.

Very dated decor. Pleasant enough for all the elderly ladies that visit though. Good service but decidedly average breakfast. Prices are higher than they should be for the quality of food provided. Nothing horrendous about this place but certainly nothing special and not good enough to make me want to come back I'm afraid.

Love the Bistro, the staff are friendly and quick and the food is delicious - a lovely varied menu plus specials are available. The lady on the till in the garden centre was a bit offhand though but I refused to let that spoil my visit. Such a pity really as it costs nothing to be pleasant to customers.

Cafe was great - bright, pleasant space, nice food and quick, efficient service. The cafe is obviously their priority though as the plants seemed a bit neglected. When we visited, some looked unhealthy, many were blown over and we didn't see any staff for advice.

Very good cafe. Can highly recommend. Good menu, hygiene and friendly, helpful waitress service. Lovely homemade cake selection. Prices a little expensive but nice ambience, and worth it. A relaxing experience.

This may be a small garden centre but has lots of variation of pots to plants to compost I would recommend a visit.
