Went here and the whole experience was 9/10. Literally it was very good, food came quick. First time trying and everything was piping hot and freshly cooked. The only downfall is the loud Asian music which I requested for it to be turned that, and the staff did an amazing job by reducing the volume level. The main old guy which takes order was an amazing staff member and I love how he uses Arabic Islamic phrases, I know my food is prepped with good intentions, he’s a bit loud when talking to other customers but maybe I had sensitive ears that evening lol. I just prefer a mellow setting. Overall good and sauces are banging. Food quality was good, nice family place. Thank you.

Absolutely disappointing food ! Proof is in the pics. We ordered Mega Mix platter that was supposed to consist of the following 3 lamb chops, 3 wings, 3 chicken tikka, Sherpur doner, spicy masala fish, king prawns, grilled veg, served with fries or naan. We had fries with ours and the grilled veg was no where to be seen. The donner underneath was all burnt no flavour whatsoever. The only thing good was the fries and the masala fish. Everything else was horrible just presented nicely. Wont be returning and definitely wont be recommending either. Check my other reviews as i provide an honest one. It was a Friday night aswell today. Was hoping the food would be top quality but absolutely a massive disappointment. No card payment allowed at this restaurant so take cash.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amazing food and great experience at Shazans in Birmingham! Visited Shazans recently and was really impressed — everything from the food to the service was excellent. The place has a lively, welcoming vibe and you can tell right away that the food is made with care and passion. We started with the lamb chops and shrimp, and both were absolutely delicious. The lamb chops were perfectly cooked — tender inside with a lovely char on the outside. They were seasoned beautifully with that smoky, spicy flavour you want from good chops. Each bite was juicy, rich, and full of taste. The shrimp starter was just as good — fresh, well-marinated, and cooked perfectly so it was tender and flavorful without being chewy. The combination of spices and slight heat made it a great start to the meal. For the mains, we had the Shirpur donner with naan and a Naga donner pie, and both were spot on. The Shirpur donner was packed with flavour — the meat was juicy, nicely spiced, and paired perfectly with the soft, warm naan. It had that classic takeaway comfort feel, but with a fresher, better-balanced taste. The Naga donner pie was a real standout. It had a spicy kick from the naga that added just the right amount of heat without overpowering the rest of the flavours. The pastry was golden and flaky, and the filling inside was rich, savoury, and satisfying — a really unique and tasty dish that you don’t find everywhere. The portions were generous, and everything came out fresh and piping hot. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in what they serve. The staff were also super friendly and attentive, checking in often and making sure we had everything we needed. Overall, Shazans is an excellent spot in Birmingham if you’re craving great grilled food and creative South Asian flavours. The starters were packed with taste, the mains were hearty and full of character, and the whole experience was relaxed and enjoyable. Highly recommend trying the lamb chops and the Naga donner pie — both absolute winners. I’ll definitely be coming back soon!

The service and atmosphere here is definitely 10/10. The staff go out of there way to make sure your happy. We felt at home and ease as soon. As we walked in we were met and greeted in a very polite and friendly way, felt like we were regulars. The food was decent and made for the desi fusion taste. I think the Biriyani needs a rework personally. Everything else was fine. Will return soon. Thank you for the great service and the Naga sauce.

⸻ Went to Shazanz this evening and the food was excellent as always. The sweetcorn fritters are packed with flavour and the garlic and coriander fries are a definite favourite. Motz and Shahid gave brilliant service — warm, genuine and welcoming throughout. The décor is beautiful, and the canvas print supporting Palestine is a thoughtful touch that really stands out. You come in as customers but leave feeling like family thanks to their hospitality. Shazanz is one of those places you enjoy every time and always look forward to coming back.

Very friendly service, food was served quickly. Food was presented nicely with separate salad and sauces. Naga mixed Donner was delicious but very spicy. Drinks are not included with the meal.

Right..So I had to visit this place as I love doner and I absolutely love spice. First of all shout out to the owner chef, absolutely fantastic gentlemen with a welcoming and friendly service. Absolutely top notch. Right.. food. The mix grill was really nice, I won’t say its the best i’ve had but I would say its a solid 7/10. The doner.. was nice.. I mean really nice, very unique and full of herbs and spices. Really stands out with the beautifully tandoori cooked Naans. I would highly recommend visiting this place.. order the doner!! Its not that hot but the sauce is delicious. I would conclude this restaurant as a place that makes you happy.. food is not the best I’ve had.. but the atmosphere, the welcoming owner, the restaurant surrounding. Homely yet fantastic. Please do give it a visit!

We ordered chicken mince rice with shawarma and pasta with salmon. Food was nice and fresh. It was very busy at that time. Food didn't take long to come. Chicken shawarma was more spicy than expected but juicy and yummy. There is free parking on the road. Tables needed cleaning .... probably short of staff, that's why 1 star less. Overall good experience and will go again.

A Birmingham institution that, like a lot of places, looks to be feeling the effects of the pandemic. The drop off in quality means this is another place that moves onto the "avoid" list. A single portion of mix sherpur special biryani comes with, I estimate, a cup of oil poured over. Barely edible and greasy beyond belief. I know its donner meat, not the most healthy of foods to begin with, but there's no excuse for a plate to be dripping in oil. And if a dish is served as spicy, that doesn't mean you heap a bunch of chilli powder over it last minute without cooking the spices... The grilled chicken burger has to be the most bland burger I've had in recent memory, no seasoning, thrown straight onto a grill and cooked until it's so tough that it's inedible. Waste of 5 quid. The naga sherpur on naan is fine, but even this isn't what it once was. If you want to come here this is the only thing worth ordering. The place is clean but there are no toilets / handwashing facilities even though there are probably 20 seats. The place is like a freezer, if you visit late in the evening like we did, make sure you bring your mittens and hot water bottles. And seriously, no card payments? In 2022?

All things food ★★★★☆
Ideally 3.5 stars, the Sherpur Donner meat was nice as always, however a bit disappointed with the masala fish in naan which tasted like the fish pakora you get at weddings. Based on the sherpur Donner meat spices, I was expecting the masala fish to be full of "masala" but it had very subtle flavours. Large portions aren't very large and the sauce tubs are tiny so if you buy takeout and like chilli sauce, be sure to ask for extras. Overall the food was nice.
