Friendly welcome from the landlord and staff at The Boat, even though it was our first ever visit. Nice pint of Neck Oil and Thatchers and Guinness Zero. Large, sunny beer garden. Will be back again.

In a sunny Sunday afternoon the outdoor seating area was a great place to spend an hour or so, watching the world, and Leeds canal, go by. The outdoor bar was open so drinks easily bought, and there's plenty of seating to go around. Pub inside is great too, it's very welcoming and it has a great feel to it. The bar staff were all friendly and helpful too. We were on our bikes having ridden into town, and there was enough room outside to keep our bikes with us without them being in anyone's way. Food - we ordered a sharing vege platter and truffle fries, both of which was lovely, though I did think the chips were a bit greasier than they should have been. Unfortunately though the sharing platter was too small for 2 people and we are not huge eaters. It wasn't good value (£15) for that reason. (We ended up having to buy a pizza after it to fill us up). The food here is lovely, having been before (eaten something different at that time) but the sharing vege platter is more of a starter sharing dish, for which is overpriced IMO! we'll certainly be returning on our next canal ride through the city but will give the sharing thing a a bit of a wide berth

Great local. The five stars goes to the chef. Simple food done right, never had a bad thing to say about the quality. They always have a local ale on which is nice too. If you want a good little pub with some nice grub in a lovely location, this one does it.

Remember when the British public voted for Boaty McBoatface? Yeah well I'm trying to forget it. The Boat doesn't have any pretentions and it's not silly or clever or anything more than what it is. It's a nice pub near some boats and it's nice to get a drink or some grub there. Staff were friendly. It wasn't too busy when I visited. Nothing really more to add.

Called for a pint while the dog had a swim in the river. It was a lovely setting and the weather was glorious which made the experience even better. Decided to have lunch here after a short walk and was not disappointed. Reasonably priced and very tasty. Three had the Hunters Chicken and I had the spicy chicken strips with curry - very nice.
