Six of us had a wonderful evening at Rose Cottage yesterday. We ordered and loved: starters - prawn cocktails, chicken wings, garlic mushrooms, and pâté; mains - liver & onions, fish & chips, and steak & ale pie; puddings - treacle sponge, and apple crumble served with a choice of cream, custard or ice cream. The only downside was the white pappy bread served with the prawn cocktails: in its defence though, t’was perfect for making chip-butties. Our serving staff were so lovely - a perfect balance between friendly and attentive, yet giving us space to enjoy ourselves. The Christmassy decor was just what I needed to start feeling more festive myself - I had such a good time.

Went to rose cottage last night for our lovely friends 80th birthday. Got seated on the party table, decorated for her birthday by the lovely Bev. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, food was amazing and the fizz offer was much appreciated. Fab evening, brilliant staff, especially Bev. Will I be back, deffo xxxx

Delicious food, very friendly staff. Great price menu £13 for 2 course or £18 for 3 courses. Lots of parking. Alice in wonderland theme running through.

What can I say… Absolutely outstanding! We had the pleasure of being looked after by Hazel, and she was nothing short of incredible. One of our guests has allergies, and Hazel went above and beyond—nothing was too much trouble. She was incredibly attentive, checked every detail for us, and had fantastic knowledge of the menu, giving us real peace of mind. The food? Delicious. Every dish was packed with flavour, beautifully presented, and enjoyed by all. We were a large group of 13, including children and dogs, and every single person (and pup!) was catered for brilliantly. Our dogs loved their special meals—we tried both the sausage and chicken options, and there wasn’t a bite left! The kids’ menu was great too—plenty of variety and really good quality. We ordered from both the set menu and the main menu, and everything was spot on. A perfect experience from start to finish. Highly, highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Absolutely lovely place! So quaint and beautifully decorated with Alice In Wonderland quotes/ murals and pictures that just added to how magical this place is. To add to that, our meal was incredible. All of our party thoroughly enjoyed our meals, as did our dogs with their doggy dinners. Would defo recommend! Lovely staff! 5 stars

Quirky place but has been a disappointment. We went to Rose Cottage for my birthday and it really failed to deliver. We ordered our drinks and the waiter did not know what drinks they had and there was no drinks menu. We ordered a starter which was okay. Then we had to wait 45 minutes for our main which was way too long. There was no apology for the delay, no asking us of we wanted more drinks and to be fair the service was really poor. The mains was delicious but I had the duck and had to spit out some fat that had not been rendered properly and was not very nice to taste. We was asked if we wanted the dessert menu, and when the guy came back he threw the menus on the table of which was unacceptable. The desserts came in a timely manner and I had the treacle tart with custard and the sponge was light but it was burnt on top of which left a really bad after taste, my wife ordered the Eton mess and was disappointed that no fresh fruit was used. We sat down at the table at 6:30pm and left at 8:45 which was way too long

Beautiful meal, we booked ahead as we know this place gets busy. We love that it’s dog friendly and we had two small dogs with us. It’s very nicely decorated inside and the staff are all so friendly and efficient, the manager welcomed us, she was busy cleaning tables and answering the phone and it’s nice to see everyone chipping in to make the experience a good one. The food was amazing including the doggy menu. The portion size is generous and the quality is great, the pork roast dinner was beautifully tender and the gravy was so good I’d go back just for that. Absolutely worth the drive.

We ate at The Rose Cottage recently and the food and service were SUPERB. Nicky & her team did an amazing job looking after us. One of the nicest places we've visited in quite a while and can't wait to visit again... soon.
