My son treated me to Christmas day dinner and what a treat! Camembert starter was beautiful, loads of choice in meats and vegetables and seriously good dessert. The greeting, serving and waiting staff were all super friendly and if they didn't want to be there on xmas day it certainly didn't show! Fortunately we went early because by the time we left the queue for the carvery was humongous.

I have visited this toby carvery for years and always enjoyed it. But today we were seated in the bar area which was fine but every table available was dirty. I had to ask for a cloth and disinfectant spray at the bar and then sit amongst dirty cups and plates. Meat was dry, roast potatoes black and rock hard, veggies undercooked. Server at the carvery part was rude. Absolutely avoid

Just visited this carvery with a friend for her birthday. We arrived half and hour early and were seated straightaway. The staff had allocated a level access and space for wheelchair as requested. Drinks arrived ok. One requested without ice but was brought with ice in. The carvery was a bit inconsistent. The carver gave my husband quite a lot of meat. Myself and the birthday girl had much less. The veg and potatoes were lukewarm or cold. The yorkshire puddings were flat. We did highlight this with our waitress. Desserts took forever to arrive. They were ok. The worst part was when we went to the loo we left our drinks at the table with the birthday girl. When we came back they had gone and she had been TOLD ! Not asked to leave the table as it was needed back in 5 minutes. We at no point were told there was a time limit on the table. This has never happened before. Plus having our drinks just taken was just unacceptable.

I went yesterday as we had a voucher code for 50% off mains. I've noticed that whenever there is an offer on - standards slip, massively. Obviously I do understand it will be a lot busier but staff will of been made aware of the voucher in advance, so should be well prepared. We ordered 3 drinks to our table which took around 15 minutes to arrive at the table. We were already half way through our meal when they did arrive. If I'd of known I'd of just ordered them at the bar to save the inconvenience. The meat had so much fat on it, usually at other places the chef will cut the fat off and throw it in the bin but here they must think it's acceptable to put a piece of meat on someone's plate when it has 50% fat. The mac & cheese was dry. The roast potatoes was still hard in the middle, not fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside like they should be. The tables are really close together, and because I had a baby in a car seat it was impossible to move freely. So for this reason I wouldn't say it's a 'child friendly family pub' as I was constantly having to move for people getting past us. Surely there's a designated area for young families with prams/car seats? I did request this, however, I wasn't given this. I'm so glad I didn't pay full price, it wasn't even worth the half price in all fairness.

Lovely food. The lady serving the meat acted like she didn't want to be there, she could have tried to smile. Served the meat well though. Then I asked 2 members of staff for horseradish. The 1st never came back & the second said there was a scraping in the bottom of the bowl. When I said I knew but wanted it topping up,she went & filled it up. I wasn't the only person waiting. Everything else was fine.

Really helpful staff . The manager was amazing. We ordered takeaway for 10 at a really busy time and he went out of his way to make sure everything was OK and even carried the food to the car for us. Super impressed!

A lovely Sunday carvery. A great choice of meats and all cooked beautifully. If you like your meat a little more red, there was a choice with the beef and lamb. A great selection of desserts tho I was way too full to eat one! No cask ales were available but the Guinness was nice. Great value and highly recommend.

After the refurbishment I was looking forward to returning. Upon entering, we stood waiting at the desk for almost 10 minutes before a waitress came over to us to take us to our booked table. Whilst we were waiting a group of waitresses were stood, leaned on the bar, talking and looking out the window at the fireworks despite us stood waiting! The service was very slow, but the waitresses were friendly. The food was lovely and have definitely seen an improvement. Great value for money.
