(Nov 2025) Popped in after a dog walk and ordered lunch; good food and service. (Aug 2025) Our favourite local. We celebrated my Mother’s 80th here. Fantastic service and hospitality. … and visited many times inbetween for dog walks during the week and weekend. Revisited (Aug 2022) Under new owners and lovely food menu. No options for kids, but staff very flexible to make portions child friendly. Lovely beers and a fab spot to sit when the sun is out. The indoors lack a bit of character, but that will come with time. Wishing the new owners every success. We’ll be back. (Aug 2021) This is a lovely place. Just changing hands, so no food or soul yet, but I suspect it will come back to life at some point.

Absolutely amazing place, me and my friend are exploring Yorkshire, and food places along the way, safe to say we stumbled across this place and it was just lovely, from the food to the atmosphere, just fantastic. From the moment we came in everyone was so welcoming and it was just a really comfortable atmosphere. The food was phenomenal, we got sides to just share between us, extremely impressed with how amazing the food was. It’s quite a fair drive from us, as we aren’t local, but it was that good we’ve decided to make it a monthly thing to come back and try the menu we were so impressed. Will definitely be back!☺️ x

I came here simply because my last name is Hinchliffe, and it exceeded expectations. The staff were so welcoming - it felt like I’d shown up to a real family environment. The food was fantastic and high quality. Portions were generous and very fairly priced.

A great atmosphere, very welcoming on a cold rainy Sunday afternoon. Not really sure about the dishes ‘for the table’ concept though. Three dishes arrived at different times, with accompanying roast potatoes and greens arriving between dish 1 and 2. This meant that I started the lamb with no vegetables and by the time the last dish arrived the veg were stone cold. The food wasn’t particularly hot to start with unfortunately. The welcoming fire we came into ran out of fuel despite our asking twice to keep it going. It’s not cheap so we felt rather disappointed all in all.

Very disappointing experience. We asked if we could dine 1h early and told this would be fine. What this actually meant was that we could sit at the table for an hour and not be served until the reservation time. Our orders were taken first, ahead of two other tables. They clearly put in the orders the wrong way around as these two tables were served first. The quality of the food was nice but it was very overpriced for what you got. The service was very stressy and they also added meals to our table which we didn’t have. The toilets were also a bit mouldy and the pub was quite dark. I don’t think the pricing matched the atmosphere. Overall there were multiple issues here which combined to create a disappointing experience.

Took advantage of the Manchester Confidentials offer and popped into here. Lovely spot, tucked away with great walks around. The food is essentially pub grub done super creatively. Every dish packed powerful flavours and rich, to the point of decadence. The simple scallops were lifted to another level with a mousse like cod roe dish. The mackerel was moreish and crispy, with the miso and tomato as great supporting acts. The humble cheese pie was uber rich but cleverly done! The malt ice cream for a very apt ginger pudd for autumn was a perfect finish. You will be full and sated.

Amazing pub. Sunday roast was next level. Ace for vegans. Beautiful walks literally outside. Easy to get to from Manchester. Our dogs were welcomed. Mega
