   So I can’t rate this place as a 1 as that would be unfair on the owner who is always friendly when frying. The reason for my low rating is that today once again when the owner wasnt working the staff failed to meet my relatively low expectations of customer service. I was in a late lunch time. 3 ladies had been served and were sat waiting. The 2 female staff (1 frying and 1 serving) failed to acknowledge me or even glance in my direction for 5 minutes as I stood waiting to be served right by the till, 1 metres away from them. I decided to walk out without ordering. The server wasn’t busy enough to justify completely ignoring the only customer waiting to be served in the building. This isn’t an isolated incident, I have left this chippy (with food) feeling disrespected and annoyed at the attitude of the staff several times. I want to reiterate, never when the owner is working! Final straw for me which is a shame as this place is walking distance but I’ll drive to Chester’s in future.

   I have always thought that since the new guy took over this place was among, if not the best, in town. But on Saturday Lunchtime I had a large cod and the size was ok but upon cutting into it I would say that it was 25% fish and 75% batter. At £8.50 you don't expect that. There were only two ladies working so I don't know if that had anything to do with it . I will give the place another chance as this is the first time I have been disappointed .

   This has got to be one of the best fish shops in Chesterfield. Massive fish that just melts in the mouth. Friendly service and you can see how much pride they have got, If there was just one negative it's the fact the queue to get served is right outside the door!!! Not really. It's a testament to how popular this place is.

   Garbage...Tried here as Chesters was shut and won't be returning. Asked for 3 large fish and chips all without skin and recieved 3 scabby fish with skin on. These were wasted...£30+ meal for 3 wasted. Chips were OK but too greasy., best plus I can give them. Don't waste your money...

   Never been disappointed with the food.The staff are always friendly, even when they are ŕun of their feet they find time to be polite. Not our local but we are prepared to travel for the quality of food and service.
