Absolutely dreadful meal tonight. Gammon and chips. Gammon awful, chips did not arrive with the meal. Poached egg!! When is gammon ever served with a poached egg?? Will definitely not be returning here again.

After visiting this place for years, disappointing from start to finish. The food was poor β dry, bland, and clearly not freshly prepared. For the prices charged, this was unacceptable. Service was slow, even though the restaurant wasnβt particularly busy. To top it off, the seating arrangement was completely inappropriate. We were seated as a family with young children right next to a group playing poker shouting and swearing, which made it uncomfortable. When we raised concerns, the manager wasn't helpful and dismissive. No effort was made to move us or manage the situation. Yes, we had a dog, but this was clearly mentioned at the time of booking. Overall, bad food, slow service, poor management, and zero consideration for families. We wonβt be returning and wouldnβt recommend this place, especially those dining with kids.

Seated upstairs despite booking a table downstairs, so it was a difficult start for one of our party who is 85. The large room was empty and yet we were seated under the TV next to the store room which was in regular use by several staff. The room was cold and as we were seated under the speaker, the music was loud. The wine was corked, but quickly replaced, with the waitress apologising. No serving spoons were given for the sides, the honey glazed gammon was under cooked and the broccoli was hard, and the roast potatoes disappointing. The sauce for the fish was gluppy and unpleasant, served poured over the dish rather than in a jug. The cauliburger was a processed, defrosted veggie mush patty, not good. The sauce on the salt and pepper chips was very sweet and tasted processed. 3 of the meals were nice (1 lamb and two beef roast dinners). The service was good and the uneaten gammon meal was not charged for after a replacement meal was declined.

Been going for approx 15 years - unfortunately the food quality here has dropped dramatically over the past 3 years. The last meal I had, the pies were very dry and dissapointing. However the sundae desert was absolutely unacceptable - Β£7 for a dollop of vanilla ice cream and some raspberry syrup! The desert was hopefully a one off, but the gradual decline of the food quality unfortunately is not and I really wish they would not take this route. I did email Bulls Head about this in a constructive manner, but there has been no acknowledgement, so I'm leaving this review now which is a great shame as several years ago I gave this place a 5 star review and I would have gone as far as saying the food was some of the best pub food in Chester.

What a fantastic lunch we had. Mains and a pudding AND coffee today! I had the seabass with roasted veg. Perfection. And we had the apple and rhubarb crumble and custard. Just wow! The whole meal was superb as was the service.

We booked the upstairs room for a birthday celebration. The buffet was excellent and great value. The staff were extremely helpful and we're a pleasure to deal with.

3 of us previously had an enjoyable meal at the Bulls Head, so were looking looking forward to our second visit. On arrival we were given a table facing the front door which was wide open, so it was quite cold. We asked if it could be pulled to, but as people came in and out it was left open. We were given the menu and were told that although turkey was on the menu they didn't have any. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy and there was only one person waiting on the tables. Having decided what we wanted we waited a good while and our order was eventually taken by the man behind the bar. The food was good but the service was really slow and that let it down. Sorry but we won't be returning any time soon.

Lovely pub, dogs are allowed and staff bring water and treats over for them. Good selection of foods and drinks, and really clean. However, the food seems to be frozen and it is not as good as it was before the new management took over. Still come if you want a drink though!
