We visited after a festive day in the village and were really looking forward to a nice meal. Unfortunately, the experience left us disappointed. We waited over an hour for our food — which we were understanding about, especially as we were given a couple of drinks as an acknowledgement. However, halfway through my Sunday dinner I found a dark hair in the gravy underneath the Yorkshire pudding. I couldn’t finish the meal as it made me feel quite sick, so I sent it back. When the bill arrived, the meal was still included. I asked if they expected me to pay for a dish that had a hair in it, and the response from the waitress felt rude or at least extremely awkward. They only removed a percentage rather than the meal itself. As we left, the atmosphere was uncomfortable, and none of the staff acknowledged us with a smile. Overall, it was a disappointing experience that could have been handled much better.

We went for a lunchtime meal today. Very impressed with both food and the service. Also, due to my hearing problem, I asked if the speakers could be turned down a little and this was done with no fuss and a big smile. Can't wait to go again. A very enjoyable experience.

My friend booked here for a bottomless brunch. Set menu .. you could have a starter or dessert. However the starter was also the dessert .. pancakes with cream. Main meal nice . No complaints Drinks were prosecco, mimosa or selection of cocktails. In hindsight we should have stuck to prosecco and the cocktails were sweet and filling. Service was good and the staff were friendly. I woukd visit here again for drinks and to try the full menu

I had a lovely lunch here with my friend and we enjoyed it very much. The food was delicious, the pub was warm and cosy and the staff were very friendly. We will definitely be visiting again soon .

First time visit. Food was very good, but the sunday lunch is waaaaaay too heavy on the cauliflower cheese! Pub is let down by the little things, service was slow with meals not coming out together. Staff discussing topics probably not work appropriate, which isn’t ideal when the pub is quiet enough to hear. Dogs annoyingly not limited to a specific bar area, so you end up surrounded by them while trying to eat. Would return, but definite points for improvement.

Terrible Mother’s Day Meal! Got charged £46 for just two roast beef dinners!! What! When I asked a member of staff they said it’s because it’s part of a 2 course meal. So basically if we didn’t want a starter or dessert we are still being charged that much for for roast dinner! Absolutely extortionate! Could not believe it. I wanted to speak to the manager an she agreed I shouldn’t have been charged that amount an agreed to refund me £6 saying that the price of our main roast dinners are £20 each!? What really! That’s still quite a lot. So when I got home I went to the website to only find out that their normal Sunday lunch menu they only charge £14.95, so not only did we get overcharged, they lied! So disappointing considering how many times we go & enjoy food there.

Unfortunately, last visit poor. Only have ever given it 3 ⭐️ in past, thought we'd try again. Five of us went for evening meal, not cooked properly, over cooked, stuff missing and staff once told had no interest at all. Maybe our face just don't fit, personal view, Pub trying to be something it's not. It's always been a Village Pub with decent country pub food and drink. Maybe go back to it's roots.

Going to have to go with just a 3 stars this time, duck was bland no flavour in the sauce or duck and ribs just had the rub on and sauce not sure if it had been forgotten also it was lukewarm not sure it was a full rack too but they were decent sized ribs but may have been, didn’t look like a full rack off an animal but still filled me either way, the meat itself was tender on both the duck and ribs but for the prices I would of expected better, the pie my uncle had though he said was nice, drinks nice seating and staff etc but food..not what I would of expected ah well will try something else next time, the previous time I came here it was different but the ribs on the menu says covered in bbq sauce but it was only rub.. only a few little changes needed to get the stars up, sauce on the ribs, duck maybe to be sea seasoned and sauce to be tasted before serving etc, and then just a bit more heat in the served meals

This is a hidden gem!! The décor right up my street! The serving staff gave us 100% extremely polite and attentive. Then the food wowzer!! Absolutely beautiful and very reasonably priced too. I will definitely be returning, with the kids too, the menu looked fab for them ❤️

My favourite pub in Rainford. I only visited for drinks so I can’t comment on the food but it’s a fantastic pub. Decorated beautifully and the staff are A1. We ordered a couple of cocktails that came and were extremely salty - they swapped them for us with no questions asked. Currently they’re using table service which made the whole experience relaxing.
