   An absolutely first class Christmas Day lunch. We have been coming here for years but I have to say that this was the best. Superb food, succulent turkey , well cooked veg and excellent roasties served with lashings of gravy. Portion sizes were really good and all the food was really hot which is not always easy given an extremely busy restaurant on Christmas Day. Service was exemplary, nothing was too much trouble and each dish was served with a smile which does make a big difference to the experience. Every member of staff in both the bar area and the restaurant was so polite, efficient and helpful and this contributed massively to our experience. There was a great atmosphere in the pub , my mother commented that she had never seen it decorated so well. Can’t recommend highly enough. They made our day really special. Thank you .

   Can only get there every couple of months. But love the place. Cosy atmosphere and I've always found the staff there really nice. Made our predictable steak and fish choices. Perfect as ever. .

   Many years ago we visited this pub at least once a month. We decided to go to celebrate an important event this month, October 2025. On entering the place my girlfriend commented, to the staff member in duty on how nice it looked now, and that it used to be dark and a bit gloomy. His response was a sarcastic... "Well thats the wonder of modern light bulbs." Charming to new customers. We left. To be honest I wanted to talk to the manager. But my girlfriend said not to bother, as neither the place nor the staff were worth the bother, or worth spoiling our day, points with which I agreed. I would like to suggest the management look into the attitude, manners and professionalism of their staff.

   Sunday lunch… wow! A beautiful location and the food was divine. We had the trio of roast with generous servings of vegetables. Desserts menu was good, better than many pub menus! The apple tart with coconut ice cream had a melt in the mouth experience. Followed lunch with a latte.

   I haven’t been impressed with this place the last few times I’ve visited to be honest, it’s SO expensive, and the food is never properly hot or great. The service is very slow also, we ate our starter before the drinks came.. the guy in charge always seems mega stressed.

   We went as a family of five For our Anniversary. Service very good by Erin. Food was really nice . My grandson who is a very fussy eater. Said this is the best meal I have ever had in a pub. And cleared his plate. We had a lovely evening . Thanks we will be back. Jackie Davis

   Me and my husband nipped into Bear and Staff yesterday evening, for a quick bite to eat. We were looked after by a lady called Lisa, who I have to say, we were beyond impressed by! She had such a high level of customer service, was bubbly, smiley and had good knowledge of the menu. It was a pleasure being served by her. Thank you Lisa! You were really great :-)
