Staff were so friendly and extra helpful! It was my girlfriend’s birthday and they went above and beyond preparing and bringing a birthday cake, singing and everything! Would come again from the friendly atmosphere and our burgers were gorgeous! (I had the chicken hashbrown gravy one!)

Absolutely fantastic food and brilliant service every time. All of the staff are friendly and welcoming, especially Danny, Haily, and Charlie. Emma’s quiz on a Thursday is the highlight of my week — such a great atmosphere. Highly recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The food was lovely don't get me wrong but fries were cold however got resolved by a fresh batch. The blue anchor could do with a revamp and was disappointed by the hygiene of the toilets. Everywhere needs a lick of paint and the chairs crumble apart aside from this the food was lovely and the waitress staff have a good sense of humour.

Last night we were in this pub to watch Real Madrid v Liverpool. We were a party 5 people. All good, apart from Liverpool losing the game, until the final whistle when the pub manageress turned the TV's volume off. It was so quick that the referee still had the whistle in his mouth. This is the third time that this has happened. On the last three games that we watched there, the manageress took the same action. So, we requested the manageress to turn the volume back, but "groundhog day"... the manageress gave the same answer as she did on the previous two games. The response is that people is asking for music. It is a very strange reply as the games are in the middle of the week and at the least 80% of the customers, including dinners, are there to watch the game and this is very clear by the reaction of the people during the game and comparing any other nights from Monday - Thursday, when there is no games, so the pub is basically empty. When people go to a pub to watch a football game or a sport event, we expect to see the commentaries and interviews after the final whistle. It is very annoying as we are still drinking and spending our money in the pub. It is also very unprofessional from the manageress, when asked to turn the volume back, being abrupt when replying to our request. We note that there are posters on the walls around the pub inviting people to watch football games in there, but there is no warning about turning the TV sound off right at the final whistle. What is very shocking is that the manageress was misleading us about people/customers asking for music. On one of the previous occasions that this happened, after requesting the manageress to turn on the volume back and the reply was that people wants to listen to music, she left for the night. So, we asked one of the bartenders to turn the volume on, the bartender kindly did and there were no further issues with people asking for music. Perhaps, proper warning should be giving to customers, who then can have the option and make a decision whether to watch the game in another local pub, like The Valentine, where we will definitely be going to watch the next Liverpool game..... Please Blue Anchor (owner), do not waste your time in replying to this comment.

The food here is always really tasty which is why the place gets 4 stars. The seating and decor are really run down in places, and the lad serving, while friendly at the bar, lobbed the plates onto the table with such force that half the chips flew off the plate... Still... Aside from this the food is reasonably priced, particularly once blue light discount is added on, and the multiple sports screens are always a plus.

We visited here last week for something to eat, I had the big plate gammon and my partner had quadzilla burger. The food was lovely and the staff couldn’t do enough for you, polite and hard working. We came here about a month a go and you could hardly order anything off the menu, so we thought we would give it another try, but we are so glad that has changed. Welcome back the blue anchor.

Always a warm and welcoming atmosphere, staff friendly and service was very fast, main meals were definitely more than you'd expect for the price, was slightly disappointed with the Halloumi fries as batter was quite greasy but all in all enjoyed the meal. A little bit of wear and tear on seats but still plenty of comfortable places to sit, kid friendly with a play area outside. Perfect for families who want a nice meal for a good price!
