Been meaning to swing by Pata Negra for a while. Although it doesn’t look eye catching from the outside it does have a cosy vibe. The atmosphere is a little dated and the family run vibe is very authentic, right down to the very laid back approach of serving the food by plonking it down on the table and the walking off. The food was a solid ok, nothing to write home about but generally enjoyable. The pork belly was a little hard and had a pre-cooked feel but it was tasty. The prawns and padrons were cooked well and the mushrooms were surprisingly crispy and quite tasty. The lamb cutlets were a bit of a let down as they were not the largest and not as tender as were hoping for. Overall a solid tapas place but lacks a little spark to make us want to rush back.

I’ve lived close to this restaurant for years and only just got around to trying it last night. It’s such a charming, cozy spot that makes you feel like you’ve been transported to Spain. The staff and the owner are extremely friendly. The owner seems to know many of the guests, which gives the place a true local feel. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the food was exceptional, full of flavor and good quality!

Lovely little gem in Putney! Beautifully cooked, genuine Spanish food is so hard to come by in London but this place nailed it. The waitress was super helpful at answering our questions and anything she couldn’t answer was directed to the owner who was cooking solo in the kitchen. Had a really nice chat with both of them when settling up the bill at closing. Will be back in the not too distant future to try the rest of the menu!

The welcome was very lacking, and they were clearly understaffed. Although they made room for two, they refused to take our order until everyone else ahead of us had been served, even though the other groups seemed more interested in chatting and drinking than ordering. Despite being okay with waiting due to the busy night, our requests were repeatedly denied until we insisted. However, the hot tapas, specials, and main courses tasted excellent and homely and very reasonably priced, hence the 4* instead of 1. They could definitely improve their order management and service.

The worst service of my life We went in, two friends on a Thursday night - that is to say we were not a complicated or big group. It was like we had personally offended the waiter. It took 20 mins to get a menu, only getting one because I went up to the counter. We ordered food, the waiter neglected to take a drinks order. When our food came, we were served the wrong dish, we asked for it to be corrected, to be accused of lying about what we ordered. A new wrong dish was then brought out, we again asked for the original dish only to be told we had indeed asked for that at the time and that we had given him attitude so it was fair. So bizzare to be accused of lying at a restaurant. The food was okay- one of our other dishes didn’t show up, but we were so uncomfortable we didn’t bother asking for it. Getting the bill was another ordeal - it took so long. We asked at the same time as two other tables and they were both given theirs and presented the card machine before we even got the bill. It was like he specifically had an issue with us- was so friendly and chatty and great with other tables. I would never recommend this experience to anyone - came away feeling not good enough to dine out. Terrible service.

Pepe the owner has been in the restaurant business for 50 years, he's passionate about good food and good wine. Pata Negra is Putney's newest Tapas restaurant that serves great food and has a late night bar underneath for dancing. Pop in and say hi to Pepe and Putney Tapas - wish I could leave more than 1 review for Pata Negra as it's always good when I visit, food is delicious and menu always changes based on the ingredients available. Try it, you'll love it ;) still great food every time.

The food here is excellent, a wide variety of authentic Spanish dishes, (on Thursday, Friday and Saturday it is busy so it could be good to book.) The wines are popular and there are a selection of other drinks too.

We came here for the first time for a birthday dinner for two. We enjoyed delicious authentic home-prepared tapas: belly pork out of this world (I’m not usually that keen but this Pata Negra version was incredibly tender and the sauce was dark and delicious), a great selection of vegetable options too, with a lovely Verdejo wine to suit, great service and a proper chat with the manager as it was our first time. Didn’t break the bank either - definitely coming back!

Went with friends Wednesday night ant the place was packed. Ordered the paella in advance and was not disappointed. Big pieces of chicken and seafood , very nice flavour. It takes 35 minutes to prepare the paella so you know its freshly made.
