We had a family get-together at The Wheatsheaf over a Christmas meal. Very well organised, considering that we booked for a party of 35 adults and 3 children. Lovely food, professional staff accompanied and a wonderful setting.
Great country pub with side restaurant. Live fire, old furniture, great real ales and draught beers. Lots of outside sitting area plus massive parking. A must see when you are in Raby.
Went on a quiet Thurs eve spur of the moment, and what a gem, deceiving place as it looks small from outside but food area is really big out back, good decor and friendly environment. The food was varied and was reasonable in price, we had scotch egg and beetroot and avocado tartar to start, a normal burger and the thatch burger as mains and that was enough we were stuffed couldn’t eat it all, the service was friendly and chatty but not over bearing. We will definitely be back again!!
Visited last night. First impressions were great. Lovely cottage style pub and beautiful restaurant setting. It wasn't very busy which was surprising but it's Jan and a long month for many. Service was funny, engaging and friendly from everyone who attended the table. Happy to give honest recommendations and absolutely made us feel part of the place. Starters were varied and interesting. Highly recommend the Duck Hash Cakes. Main courses again, varied & interesting, with a separate specials menu. I chose the steak which was exceptionally cooked but I must confess to regretting not ordering the Pork Medallions that looked (and tasted) absolutely exceptional. Desserts were fun, tasty and presented like everything else... with genuine care, attention & class. Can't wait to visit again and happy to recommend. Costs were very reasonable and while the service charge is optional, I wish we'd brought along some cash to hand over to add to it as we were very impressed.
A walking group of about 30 of us attended for our Xmas get together. Our choice of food ranged from toasted sandwiches to 3 course Xmas dinner. All food was good and the staff very attentive. The only criticism we had was that the car park was like an ice skating ring. I believe the management have a duty of care to their customers. A couple of bags of grit,/ salt would not cost much.
Lovely little traditional pub serving food. The menu was varied with a good selection of dishes on offer. I booked a table a few days in advance and when we arrived we where led to a table. It was busy when we arrived, the staff who served us where chatty and friendly. Our food was well prepared and tasted great, only issue was I had no space for dessert. I'd definitely make a return visit, there was a decent sized outdoor area, that I imagine would be lovely to sit in during the summertime.
Ate here for the first time, having Sunday lunch with a friend. She chose the chicken and I had the beef. She reports the chicken was lovely and enjoyed her meal. Unfortunately I cannot say the beef was the same. It turned up bloody (of which I don't mind) but it was sinewy and tough to cut, let alone, chew. The rest of the meal was fine with an assortment of vegetables and a fabulous Yorkshire pudding. The gravy was lacking. The desserts were pleasant. Service was OK. We may well come back again, however I will avoid the disappointment of the beef.
Great county pub, good food, great menu, and a great bike show...
Great traditional pub love a good pint of erdinger from here and the food is fabulous. Has a large free car park on site. Great location for walkers and bikers for a pit stop.
