This was my first time experiencing a dining-in-the-dark restaurant, and it also happened to be a birthday celebration, which made it even more special. The entire experience felt fresh, unique, and surprisingly enjoyable. Our guide and server, Michael, was extremely professional and reassuring. His clear guidance helped ease any initial fear or discomfort of dining in complete darkness, allowing us to relax and fully immerse ourselves in the experience. The quality of the food was excellent, and dining in the dark created a unique opportunity to focus purely on flavors and textures. It was also interesting and enjoyable to interact with others in the darkness, which added an unexpected social element to the evening. What truly surprised us was how time passed so quickly when we were fully focused on the food and conversation. It was a genuinely pleasant, memorable, and highly satisfying dining experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for something different and meaningful.

Three words come to mind when describing last night’s experience: immersive, unique, and memorable. We were party of four celebrating not one, but two birthdays, ahead of the festive period. We had a very special evening, which featured friendly service, tasty food, and a truly unique dining concept. I can only recommend this restaurant, which while expensive, is a well designed and enjoyable culinary experience. Billy, our guide and waiter, was excellent and a key part of our positive visit to this restaurant. He was friendly, conversational, and fun, which was welcomed by our group as we engaged in some jovial verbal exchanges. We even received two Happy Birthday shoutouts! A fantastic evening and we recommend groups of a similar size to us visit Dans le Noir ? to experience this restaurant for themselves.

We had an amazing dining experience in the dark at dans les noir, the waiting staff were absolutely fantastic and exceptional good at what they do. We had Courtney as our waitress and she was so lovely and helpful! We could not see anything so it got our taste buds guessing. The food was really good and I would highly recommend anyone to go and give ‘eating in the dark’ a go - such a unique experience, thank you x

Gal was introduced as our waiter for the evening, and he welcomed us at the entrance to the dining room, explaining everything clearly. When we entered Gal’s domain, the atmosphere instantly shifted. Most of the staff are visually impaired or blind, making them the perfect guides. The front of house team were fantastic too welcoming, organised, and really setting the tone for the whole experience. Gal explained everything clearly where the water and cutlery were, how the table was set, and the layout of the room without revealing anything about the food. Nothing prepares you for the complete darkness. Once inside, it was impossible to tell whether my eyes were open or closed. We laughed as we fumbled for our glasses and cutlery, and more than once I felt like I was using a claw machine, hoping the fork actually made it to my mouth. Every successful bite felt like a small achievement. After a few minutes, your senses really start to open up, and you notice sounds, textures, and flavours so much more intensely. The food was incredible, even though I’ll never know what it looked like, and the cocktails were amazing too. The staff confirmed our booking and dietary requirements seamlessly, making the whole experience feel comfortable and well-organised. This was a 10 out of 10 experience and one of the best and most unique I’ve ever had. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for something memorable and completely different.

My wife and I dined here in August 2025 and were served by the very witty and extremely professional Gawl. The food was very tasty, the experience is truly unique and like nothing we have done before. When you read its pitch black, it really is. Like you can hold your own hand an inch in front of your face and you still will not see it. This did not put us off in any way, but please do bear it in mind before booking. If it's not for you, that's ok, just know what you are signing up to. Before you enter the room they do take for safekeeping anything that can be reflective (like a wristwatch), but not things like diamond earrings and/or rings (so image how dark it really is if they are not worried about the diamond absorbing and reflecting the light back)! Also, if you need to, you can leave the dark dining space and visit the restroom during the dining experience, but we didn't as that would have "broke up" the atmosphere of truly dining in the dark. All in all, I highly recommend this to anyone who does not have issues with "the dark". I would not repeat the experience as it really is the element of surprise which made it so fascinating for us (like how will you "see" what you are eating - spoiler alert - you dont, and sometimes have to resort to helping yourself with your hands to ensure food is on the cutlery, which sounds counterintuitive, I know!), but I am very happy we did it once. Also, we were told that the menu changes every six months or so, so you can visit twice a year to surprise your taste palette, if you would like. In summary, I would definitely recommend at least one visit in your life and hopefully you get Gawl who made the whole two plus hours fly by! P.S. 1 I have not taken any photos so not to spoil your experiences. P.S.2. Kudos to the restaurant owners for employing blind and visually impiared people. On a very serious note, this restaurant experiences is really exceptionally informative of what it is like for blind and visually impaired people. Of course, the fact that the customer gets to return to their everyday life, whilst those who are blind or visually impaired do not leave this "darkness" is not lost on anyone who gives it a bit of a thought. Really makes you appreciate the "givens" in life!

For me it’s a must do experience; NOT for picky eaters though and close minded people! I come from a small island and everyone I said I was going to a restaurant to eat in the dark they told me “why would you do that?”, so again, you have to be open minded because at first thought it does sound “silly”. But I loved it! It was the coolest thing ever, of course another person’s disability is not cool, but the whole concept was incredible and so out of our comfort zone. It truly is pitch black, you can’t see a thing, and we relied heavily on feeling & hearing to catch the food in our plate. Our waitor Fabio was super nice and made us feel comfortable. The food wasn’t as incredible as it looks on their site, the dessert was a super basic apple crumble, I think they could have done something more interesting, it was really underwhelming. Also, in the dietary requirements I requested no duck, as my boyfriend isn’t the biggest fan, and guess what the main was…. Imagine if someone was allergic to it? (There are people who can only have certain foods). He didn’t cause a scene and ate it, but it would have been disappointing to pay 60£ for a meal you did not request (I understand it’s a surprise but still). All in all, I would go again for the experience for sure, even if the food was not mind blowing.

Amazing food! The whole experience from start to finish is great. Waitors were always so friendly and kind. The food can’t get better and the prices are fair for the portion size. Always a great spot to get great food. Thank you to Kay, Michael and Fabio.

It was a unique and incredible experience. Inside the restaurant, you will be asked to hand in your phone and any smart gadget that may give out light and these will be kept safely in a locker for you. The food was great, you will be given 3 option: Red menu for meat, Blue for seafood and Green for veg. At the end of your experience, they will reveal what you have eaten and you will find out if your guesses were correct! It is definitely worth a visit! The staff were amazing and will talk you through it. It's not often that one get to dine in pitch black... definitely an experience to awaken your senses!

I visited in Jan as a treat because my friend was moving out of London and wanted to try this. This review is well overdue. I don't want to say too much that might ruin the experience but we had a fantastic time. Loseing your sense of sight for the meal allows all your other senses to come alive. I'm usually a slow eater and my partner is the fast eater but in the dark our behaviour totally changed, I became the quick eater!. You get a choice of veg, meat or fish menu and you have no idea what will turn up on the plate, so try to order from the same menu so that you guys can try to guess what you're all eating!. The food tasted delicious, the wine pairings and cocktail were excellent too. Our host Ghow was fantastic! As was the lady downstairs who gave us a lovely momento book and a complimentary cocktail downstairs. I can't rave about this place enough, a worthwhile business employing differently abled people, excellent food and excellent service. These types of places make dinning out a pleasure and memorable experience!

This experience as a family outing was amazing. The staff were really friendly including micheal, our guide, and alya, our waitress who were both blind and outstanding with their service. No phones or belongings were allowed in the dark room so no photos were taken, but we were shown our meals after the experience. I had the 3 course meal from the blue menu which was delicious, although it may seem abit overpriced (luckily they accept student discounts). I would recommend this to any family, it was quite scary at first but the inability to see our meal enhanced our other senses together which was an overall pleasant experience.
