Formal Complaint Regarding Unacceptable Service Experience Dear Management, I am writing to express my deep disappointment following our recent visit to 148 Chinese Restaurant. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely negative due to the behaviour of one of your staff members. We had a table booking for six people and politely asked if the bill could be separated. Your staff member responded by saying, “abusive words”, I need a calculator,” in a passive-aggressive manner. This was completely unacceptable and left several members of our group—some of whom are retired—feeling uncomfortable and disrespected. We were also overcharged, and when we raised our concerns, the staff member refused to apologise. Another staff member who we spoke to walked away to speak with him, but again, no apology or acknowledgment was offered. We even paid the 10% service charge despite the poor treatment. We asked to speak with management, but this request was refused. The lack of professionalism, respect, and customer care was genuinely shocking. As a result, you have unfortunately lost us as customers. This feedback is not given lightly, but no customer should be spoken to or treated in this manner. I hope you take this seriously and address the behaviour within your team to prevent this happening to others.

Have used this restaurant for many years on and off. The food is okay it’s really not bad, not freshly cooked from scratch but overall not bad. The staff are extremely friendly they really do go out of there way to make you feel welcome, they all seem genuine, I like them. Here’s the bit explaining lack of stars, had meal pdq presented paid. Later looked at receipt noticed I had paid nearly £4 for a service charge. My mistake should have looked at bill. Pdq was presented in a way I couldn’t see total amount, my fault? Maybe but I went on trust having used them for many years, I felt conned. Sad to say that’s was the last time I’ll eat in there again let alone get a takeaway. Shame but then they should respect a customer’s decision as to weather they want to pay a service charge and make it clear what they are charging.

This is the best Chinese food in dulwhich hands down! The roast duck was moist & meaty & the duck juice was delicious. The beef ginger onion dish had decent amount of ginger that came through & the mixed veg dish had a nice variety of veggies & seasoned well. Service was prompt & friendly. We ate here on our first night in dulshich $ our last night as well. Highly recommended!

From the moment we walked into 148 Chinese, the warm ambiance and welcoming staff set the tone for a delightful meal. The menu offered an impressive selection of traditional Chinese dishes, and everything we ordered was nothing short of amazing. The flavors were vibrant and authentic, perfectly spiced and bursting with flavor. Each dish was beautifully presented, showcasing the chef's attention to detail. What truly stood out was the quality of the ingredients. Fresh vegetables and tender meats made each bite a joy. The service was also top-notch; our servers were attentive and offered wonderful recommendations. I can't recommend 148 Chinese highly enough for anyone looking to enjoy delicious Chinese cuisine. With its tasty food and inviting atmosphere, it deserves a solid five-star rating! I can't wait to return and try more dishes from their extensive menu.

AVOID if you can, very bad customer service, dishes are not as tasty and fresh as before. Keep removing plates from our table before we finish our food. Everything is in a rush. Portion are small and not worthy of our visit anymore.

AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! If I could select 0, I certainly would. The service here has been getting worse and worse over the years & now it is just diabolical. The food is also terrible (nothing like it used to be). The owner/manager is the most impolite and unfriendly man, even towards his own staff. On my last visit, I was so appalled with the food I’d been served and the service I’d received that I kindly asked the waitress to remove service charge. The response was that I should be warned, if I refuse to pay service on this occasion, I will be barred from dining there again. Of course I had absolutely no intention of returning anyway, but that was the shocking response. When I questioned whether that was really the policy, the manager asked “why would you come back anyway” with absolutely no interest in why I wasn’t happy with the service or how he could improve. You couldn’t pay me to step foot in here or even order a takeaway.

I'm not sure if I can express my mind the way I want to, but let's give it a go! First of all: outstanding service: I wasn't even there when I felt like I'm welcome and somebody is expecting me there. For the whole time the staff was there for me and it really made me feel comfortable and sort of ''important''. Then the appetisers arrived - from that moment I knew I want to stay as long as possible...no regrets recorded :) The food made me feel alive actually. I haven't had so much for a dinner for a long time and it didn't make me feel like it's too much either. I guess it's the quality plus the standards because all I've tried was fresh and delicious. There is always a way to measure the grade of the restaurant's quality and it's called scallops which was absolutely mind blowing! Mr. Ramsay (my personal hero) would grant a 'M' star after trying some of these bad boys. Last but SURELY not least was the the teryaki fillet steak-oooh my days ... the taste of that orange/tangerine flavour combined with tenderness of the beef gave a huge O . In terms of flavour experience ;) Venue had a vibe and that little something all oriental restaurants should have to attract customers-it takes you somewhere far away from where you were a minute ago after popping in there . Thank you guys for such a lovely and unforgettable experience. Will be back there for sure!!!

This remains the Chinese restaurant for a meal in Dulwich! If anything, the staff are even more friendly and welcoming whilst remaining exceptionally professional: it is a delight eating here. This is a fantastic choice for takeaway orders as well. The price of eating out has gone up so if you are going to splash out out has to be worth spending your hard-earned cash - and this restaurant does not disappoint. '148' remains well loved by locals and I have been eating here for over twenty years: formerly known as Mr Liu, the new management team have definitely settled in and made it their own. The food is still excellent - freshly prepared and beautifully seasoned: the staff are gorgeous, they will remember you and are happy to converse with you or, sensitively, leave you in peace. Highly recommended.
