Service and atmosphere were amazing and so was the main course of pork belly but removed a star for the prawn cocktail starter which was a lot of salad which I can't eat. Was very dry and needed some more sauce with it. Love the pub though and go here alot.

Like the Black Horse, this is a pub that's more of a food place than a pub, but there's a proper bar area if you're just in there for drinks. Food is good and they often have deals on. They often have entertainment on, although this is usually just a solo singer with backing tracks. The pub quiz is once a month on the first Monday of the month (although is moving to twice a month in 2026); it's a good quiz with 8 rounds of questions on a variation of subjects. Overall a decent place for the locals of Pilgrims Hatch!

We had a joint birthday celebration on the 6th Dec and were looked after by Lydia & Charlotte. Both waitresses did a great job and were very friendly. We pre-booked our dishes and everything went very well and everyone enjoyed the food.

Dinner on Saturday, recent change of menu leaves the place 'confused' expected great pub food, but now there is a fine dining menu from 6.30. Food itself is good, but small portion on a large plate presentation style, 'trio of pork' basically pork belly 9 times more expensive than you can buy ingredients in a shop.... and no veg, it did taste OK-good but felt OTT, everyone else wanted the fish n chips from the bar menu which they allowed. That too was v good but served on a small plate that then made it look crowded when chips out the basket, so too fussy. I prob would have had the burger off that menu but thought I'd try the fine dining experience. We went cos it's a great pub with great food and friendly service. We felt it should stick with a traditional pub menu and put the fine dining items on a specials board, still just my/our view. Consensus of the table if the fine dining only menu was enforced we wouldn't go back.

We had a lovely meal here on a Friday evening. The service was brilliant, just the right level of attentiveness and the food was delicious - very generous portions and good value for money. Will definitely be returning.

Food was less than average, donβt order βtruffle friesβ you pay a premium and get cheesy chips- no truffle flavour at all and if itβs just flavoured truffle as clear there was no actual truffle it should be advertised as this. Husband ordered fillet steak was stone cold- awful, sent it back and ordered all the meat roast- all meats not nice, cannot select how you want your beef so if you donβt like well done and chewy donβt bother. On a plus side the battered fish was nice!

I came to the Royal Rose this weekend for a bottomless brunch with a group of friends and was thoroughly disappointed by the food. To be completely honest, 4/7 of our mains were completely flavourless. It was a real shame. We were given a free round of desserts, which we appreciated, but upon reflection we would have rather have had money off the bill, as these also missed the mark in flavour. Not sure whatβs going on here but for the cost of the visit, the food was really poor, Staff were warm and friendly which is always appreciated, and the beer / drinks garden was nice - hence the 2 stars!

I eat here often as a go-to option for a guaranteed great meal & nice evening. The food: Each time Iβve visited, the food has not disappointed. Large portions, numerous tasty and interesting options (fish, meat, veg). Cooked, seasoned and garnished to perfection. Allergy safe. Wide choice of drinks. The venue: Decorated nicely. Date night or a nice dinner with friends/family. Probably not suitable for small children. There is also a separate bar on the other side of the restaurant. The staff: Attentive, friendly and professional. The manager/owner is always at the restaurant to make sure everything goes smoothly.

Had a fantastic brunch here Highly Recommended!! The staff were welcoming and happy to help despite a very busy and chaotic service, they made you feel nothing was too much trouble. Although ridiculously busy all the staff were more than happy to accommodate our endless drink requests. The food was to a high standard, I would be happy bring my boss, my mum, or my friends here. I sound like I'm gushing but I really enjoyed my brunch here. Prices were in line with what I would expect. I'd like to thank Melissa, Freya and Tara in particular. Check my photos for the menu. Give it a try it's worth it!
