I was very impressed yesterday evening dining at this great establishment that I have been personally frequenting since the early 80's. Impressive surroundings with amazing food Mumtaz has always maintained that little bit special in terms of culinary delights. It is so good there that I invited old friend and recording artist from the super group Imagination Leee John and actor singer Peter Straker as well as others for supper. They were impressed immensely, and as a result will become devotees moving forward. Don't take my word for it, just make one visit and you be smitten too.

Quiet restaurant with lots of seating, just a min walk away from Sherlock Holmes Museum. Friendly service, food was good with generous portions. The chicken biryani was really good. Entrance to restaurant has a step and toilets are down the stairs, so not very accessible. Good option if in the area!

I've been meaning to review Mumtaz for a very long time but I noticed this restaurant long before I could review it or afford to dine there. I remember observing the action at Mumtaz when leaving London by coach to go up North in my childhood. It seemed so glittering and dreamy! In more recent years I have become a Mumtaz regular and try to visit it every time I'm in London. Yes, the venue has aged most gracefully. But it retains a certain grandeur, and the traditional cuisine and the white tablecloth service that I appreciate. The food is always excellent. For an Indian cuisine experience as it should be I choose Mumtaz whenever I'm in London.

Booked Mumtaz India Restaurant online as going to Marylebone Theatre opposite for pre show dinner, the booking went pending reservation approval, I waited and waited, no approval from Mumtaz so called on the day and they took booking over phone. We arrived as they opened and only one other couple were there for the hour and 15 minutes so as large place left it as no atmosphere. The place has elaborate decor but looking little tired. The Staff were friendly and attentive. Couple of little mishap, not worth a mention. The food was fine and fairly priced except to me the Sagg paneer side at £9.50, it's only spinach and cheese. There is a sign of cash only, which we did pay cash but we don't carry much so they did say they had a card machine that they could try if we didn't have enough. Always supisus of large place that only want cash. They add 12.5% service charge. I wouldn't rush back.

We came on a whim after finding it hard to turn our eyes away from the 14.95 meal special! It was quiet inside but luckily that didn't put us off. All around we ended up with a post-park-walk quality meal for the price!

Nice restaurant with nice food. I visited the place with friends and we were immediately seated without having to wait. The food came slowly, but it gave us a chance to talk and laugh. If you decide to visit this restaurant, first check the opening hours.

Thought this was a great place for Indian food. It was well prepared, fresh and v tasty indeed. There is plenty of scope for a good drink too. A very wide range of everything. Service was polite and friendly. We enjoyed it thoroughly. Highly recommended.

Good Indian restaurant just north of Baker Street. The dining area is large and affords some privacy to each table. The food is very good: fresh poppadoms, excellent dal soup, tasty if rather hot chicken jalfrezi, a chick pea side and an excellent naan were my choices. The service is excellent.

Service was very good and quick. The menu has a reasonable selection to choose from and the food was pretty decent too. It was a weekday, the restaurant wasn't very busy, so didn't need to wait and didn't need a reservation.

This was place was extremely average. The servers were nice but a little bit forceful on trying to sell us drinks and extra food when all we were after was a straightforward dinner. The food was average. Starters were good but the speed with which they came out was concerning and on tasting them they had clearly just been flash fried or microwaved from chilled. The Mains again were disappointing the chicken was very dry and sauces a bit bland with the rice portion being a bit small. I wish places wouldn't offer Groupon deals only then to be almost grumpy that you're taking them up on the offer. Maybe if you're paying full price you get a different experience but I'm doubtful of this. The final point was on exit we were presented a bill with zero cost but an arbitrary £4 service charge which kind of came from nowhere
