We had booked lunch for a special occasion. They are clearly more used to having corporate diners in at lunchtime and their Lunch Express menu at £32 is clearly popular. We had booked for the more expensive menu option at £87 pp. We were disappointed to be left alone with the menus for some time but eventually we were able to put a drinks order in with one of the waitresses. Our cocktails took a long time to arrive and the waiter initially took them to the wrong table, I suggested they were probably our drinks but then he didn't know which was which and as we tried to help him figure this out it turned out he didn't know what ingredients were in each cocktail. We eventually did get to order our food and a bottle of wine (wines range from about £50 upwards, we'd chosen one at £83). The food itself was really nice. The mixed starters were delicious and I was very impressed with the freshness of the sashimi. With the mains, we'd ordered the black cod, it wasnt 'black' i.e. it didnt look charred around the skin but it did taste very delicious. The steak was tasty but the size was disappointing, very small for a main meal. The deserts were panna cotta. Overall not quite upto 'special meal' standard but would probably recommend for an express lunch option.

We spent a fabulous week in the real Ginza, Tokyo a few years back so thought it would be interesting to experience the Afternoon Tea at Ginza St. James's in London. Overall, it was a very enjoyable encounter. We were met at the reception by Julie who showed us downstairs to our table. Madalina, our waitress, then presented us with a delicious glass of champagne. The food arrived on a Japanese style three-tier stand and another friendly waitress described in detail every Item. We hadn't eaten all day so tucked in with real intent. With the exception of the slightly over-cooked battered Chicken Kara Age everything was delicious. The deserts were very sweet as expected and not to everyone's taste but true to our experience of Ginza, Tokyo. I would say that the Afternoon Tea has been slightly adapted to the Western diet but, in essence, is still very much Japanese. Bear in mind that my rating for atmosphere was only three because it was a very quiet. We were only one of three couples in the entire restaurant at 3pm. If you prefer a buzz with your Japanese cuisine, go to Wagamama. Just don't expect this level of sophistication, food quality and service.

I had the most amazing time at Ginza St. James’s today. From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable. The waitstaff Daniel and Veronica were all incredibly kind and attentive, but a special shoutout goes to Daniel, who truly went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. He made sure both my friend and I were completely satisfied with our food and drinks, and even took the time to chat with us, which made the whole visit feel so personal and warm. To top it all off, he surprised us with a dessert — such a kind and thoughtful gesture! I genuinely can’t express how much I enjoyed my time at this restaurant. I’ll absolutely be coming back, and I highly recommend others do the same. If you get the chance, speak to Daniel or Veronica — they are both incredible people and made our night unforgettable. Hope both of them remain blessed.

We had an incredible experience from start to finish. The three-course meal paired with cocktails was absolutely fantastic—the food was bursting with flavour, and the drinks were crafted to perfection. The service was outstanding; Daniel went above and beyond with his recommendations, making sure we chose the perfect dishes and cocktails. He was friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome. We also want to give a huge thanks to the chefs and the rest of the team—the effort and care they put into everything really shone through. Overall, it was an exceptional dining experience that we’ll definitely remember.

Real Japanese - Top quality I have been to Ginza a few times and every time the overall experience gets better and better. The quality of the food is excellent and the presentation is sophisticated, in true Japanese style. I definitely recommend the wagyu tartare and the lobster, they were amazing. You won't be able to find this quality in any other restaurant in London. The staff is very welcoming and professional. The service was spot on and each dish was described to us really well. The waitress was very attentive to every detail, as well as the sommelier who was very prepared and experienced. You have to try it to understand! 10/10

Did a set menu when we visited this summer and it was a great experience. We were able to get the table to see the chef cooking the steaks and lobsters and this added to the overall brilliant experience. Every dish was beautiful and the service was fantastic and to also mention the bar staff upstairs that prepared a lovely cocktail.

We came here to celebrate my partner's birthday and had the Japanese afternoon tea. Two of our party were halal with one requiring no fish. We're quite new to high end afternoon teas and with hindsight I did feel a bit exploited. We didn't realise we were being charged £20 for still water and combined with the service charge I essentially paid for an extra afternoon tea! Furthermore they weren't prepared for the dietary requirements specified despite me booking well in advance. They confused my mum's halal requirement with vegetarian and though she said she was fine with the mistake, she did wish she had the halal chicken available.i also suspected all of us were given halal chicken as beef was completely absent from all afternoon teas which waiter said was not halal. A beef burger was featured on the afternoon tea menu but none of us received. Instead we got salmon while my mum got a plate of teriyaki chicken which she felt was sorta thrown together last minute. We all loved the food, just disappointed that the waiters weren't clear they were charging us extortionately for water. And other high end afternoon teas we've tried recently had unlimited refills including the teas, and even free extras. We only got one portion of tea - and matcha at the end to finish.

What an amazing place! Vey delicious food! I left the place feeling very full. The teppanyaki was impeccable - the best in London. I especially liked the chicken, the meet was so succulent. The service was incredible, I felt very much cared for. And considering the price, the quality of food and portion size was more than generous. Will definitely come back for more.
