Friendly staff, and a good varied, and reasonably priced menu. Egg and chips for £3, and a coffee for £1.50, for example, is hard to beat. It's close to the market and always quite busy, but that's not surprising. If you want posh food, then it's perhaps not the place to go, but if you want a decent town centre café that serves everyday food at every day prices by every day friendly people, you would be hard pressed to find anywhere better in Ashton. Only had cheese on toast and a drink first time I visited here. Returned a week later for a breakfast that was excellent. Sausage that was succulent without being too spicy, thick bacon than wasn't too salty, nicely cooked egg with yolk that was cooked but still runny, and hot beans and tomatoes. It cost an extra 50p for a slice of toast but even with that added the cost was extremely reasonable (cheaper than a Tesco breakfast for example). Excellently cooked and excellent value. 12 MONTHS LATER Have visited regularly for cooked breakfast. Consistently excellent. Better than anywhere else we’ve ever been for breakfast. Always hot, always great quality, always thick lean bacon and nicely cooked eggs, always friendly and efficient staff, and always a great price.

Firstly be mindful that this place is cash only and won't accept cards. Food here is super cheap and staff are friendly. I ordered a cheese Omelette for breakfast and it was served really quickly. The Omelette was lovely however you could taste that the beans and chips were cheap. Overall I'd eat there again as there's not many places where you can get a breakfast for £5.

This is a perfect example of a local cafe that provides more than just great food. It's quick to realise that the staff here offer the greatest of welcomes and offers friendship and support to the regulars but that warm welcome and traditional respect is offered to visitors alike. The food is freshly made to order and drinks are hot when they arrive at your table. Its clear it has a firm place in the hearts of the local community and the staff are fantastic. They are helpful, honest, caring and understanding of people's wellbeing and the economic situation that we are all in. Today I had fish, chips and peas with bread and butter as well as a steaming hot tea all for under £8. My only small negative was it was served on a lukewarm plate but that is the only negative I could find in this truly heartwarming cafe. It's spotless with cleaning after every customer. This is the place to be - which is kind to your purse with a heart of gold. Definitely will be back!

Had fish chips and mushy peas with a nice pot of tea and loved it. I was even asked if I like my fish lightly battered or well done, which I thought was nice. My wife also ordered a full breakfast and commented that she would definitely order it again. Everything was nice and hot, and she loved every mouthful. The food is reasonably priced and well worth a visit
