   Went in last week. Woman working at the counter didn’t say anything to me such as “what can I get you” or even hello, just stared at me. Asked if they did baked potatoes (my first time in here) she looked at the menu and said “course we do” sarcastically and laughed it off, which seemed like she was trying to make me sound stupid. When my food arrived (I was taking out) she asked if it would fit in my carrier bag, and before I could check she took the bag off me and took everything out and put it on the table to check (why not let me check?). She then went and got me another bag. It was the owner who did write down my order though as another customer was waiting who I let go first - and he was great and friendly, just the other woman working there was being funny with me

   So my Nan has stage 1 dementia, she’s gone into this cafe with my dad paid for her food and 10 minutes later gone back to get my step mum food. A week later she’s gone in again and they’ve told my nan that her transaction the week before didn’t go through and she had to pay £20 so she paid the £20… she’s got home and my step mum checked her online banking and both payments from when she went with my dad and then went back to get my step mums food had gone through and it was only £18. My nan said to them “your taking the mick coz of my dementia arent you” and they laughed at her. So not only did they scam her because of her dementia but they took the mick out of her aswell and now my nan has anxiety about even walking past the cafe let alone going back in. I can’t even express how angry and disgusted I am and best believe I’ll be going down to kick when it’s next open.

   Love this place! I would normally pick up a sandwich or a jacket potato to take out. On the odd occasion I get to eat in, the atmosphere is just brilliant! An absolute gem of a place in Stalybridge, feels like the heart of the town with super friendly, caring staff and the best, affordable homely food. Please can I have your mashed potato recipe? X

   Typical northern hospitality, charm and cheek and a laugh. Coffee is lovely and the food is nice too but the cakes and sweet treats...nom nom nom delicious! Plus my little dog is welcome and he enjoys his "cut into bite sized pieces" sausage. Great little hidden gem!
