With its delicious home cooked food, devilish cake and local beers the Green Lane Social tops the bill for places to see and be seen in Chinley, High Peak’s most vibrant village. And then there’s the bread. Not a loaf. A statement. A bread that could be used as a flotation device for a few laps of Combs Reservoir. A loaf so large and proud it deserves its own postcode. Onto the service…or rather, the waiter. Quirky, effortlessly attractive, and armed with the kind of disarming charm that makes you forget what you ordered and briefly question your life choices. He glides around the café with the confidence of a man who knows the menu is satisfying and that people will fall in love with him by accident. There’s a twinkle in the eye that says, “Yes, I know this café is excellent. No, I won’t apologise.” The atmosphere is warm, social, and gently chaotic — the kind of place where strangers become friends, conversations drift between tables, and everyone is quietly judging each other’s cake-to-carb ratios. In summary: Green Lane Social Café is dangerous. You’ll arrive hungry and leave full, emotionally attached to melted cheese, and faintly hoping the quirky waiter remembers your name next time. Five stars. Possibly six, if bread were allowed to vote.

What a super cafe! Gorgeous freshly cooked food, lovely coffees & teas. So dog friendly you even get a little pot of sausage for them, such a nice touch. The mushrooms with local cheese was delicious, as was the hollandaise sauce on the eggs benedict. One to try if you're anywhere near by

Nice place for a break in the journey, nestled away on the Pennines The cakes were lovely, but the lemon meringue was a bit too much for me. The meringue was the uncooked & blow torched variety, rather than the classic baked. The lemon was also pretty heavy.

Delicious eggs Benedict and a double breakfast. The mushrooms on the breakfast were fantastic. We would have liked to try both a coffee and a pint but after a hike up the hill it was a soft drink for us

Wonderful cafe/bar in the heart of Chinley Village. Stumbled across it today and will definitely be back. I had a few craft ales but will be back for the food and coffee, looked delicious. Also can't speak highly enough of the staff. Sarah was particularly great.
