Bust,Busy ,Busy . We visited on the May Holiday and it was packed with people . A resonable menu but you could see the staff were struggling with the shear volume of customers we took the cheese and ham pannini which was excellent .We sat outside which was a relief to get away from the crush . A nice table at the waterside worked a treat

Really handsome modern Scandi style cafe but suffers from its own success slightly. The food is delicious but a bit pricey. The queueing system is a bit of a mess which could be rectified by clear signage as there are three places to queue. It's always very busy in there every time I go so not guaranteed indoor seating especially at lunch time, much quieter in the afternoon. There are plenty seats outside with great views of the gardens as long as the weather isn't too cold. Became a member of the RHS today so will be visiting again in the future as the cakes and coffee are notably good. (p.s. there is also a pretty little stable cafe which isn't as busy but doesn't have the same selection of food. You would have to buy a ticket to the garden/be a member to access this cafe though as it is right at the far end of the gardens.)

The food was good but really, it was expensive for what it was. They did have good vegan and gluten free options, as well as kids food bags with sandwiches and snacks. The coffee was ok - machine made rather than barista. It was nice to be able to sit outside in the sun next tov the lake to eat.

Most of my reviews are 4 or 5 stars, but here I can't. I ordered flat white and "luxury" hot chocolate and this experience only managed to ruin my morning. While flat white doesn't stand out of an average coffee quality in UK (bland water with distant coffee flavour), hot chocolate had nothing to do with chocolate. Have you ever tried anything with this name in France, Belgium or central Europe? Probably not. If I knew I about to pay 4£ for water with cocoa and sugar, I would rather send this money to a charity. Be honest and rename your products to "water with coffee flavour' and 'sweet cocoa water'. It has nothing to do with real thick creamy dark chocolate with home made cream and fresh mint I've had recently in Austria. On the other hand, building itself is a modern and interesting wood cubic structure and yes, staff was polite, but not the friendliest. (11people behind the bar was the highlight number of staff I have seen concentrated on a such a small space) I'll give this place one more try and I'll be happy to edit my review.

Okay. Lovely outside seating by the lake - not so relaxing inside when it’s busy. Website displays incorrect information - for some time now says open 11am on a Sunday whereas it seems to actually open at 0930am. Scones fall apart into crumbs when trying to butter them.

So went back to the main cafe in the main entry building. Was pleasantly surprised with the breadth of the offer here. 3 different pies, baked potatoes with a variety of fillings £5 for 1 £6.50 for two. There was a couple of 'mains', a curry and a casserole. Each was £10 and came with two sides. I went for the chicken and leek casserole with potatoes and mixed vegetables. All very nice and really well cooked. Plenty of it in fact didn't need to eat again all day. Good value too.

The views from the outside deck of the cafe is really nice as it’s on top/ edge of a lake. The fresh stuff, like cakes/ pastries etc are delivered here at 11 which is a bit of let down as the place opens at 9:30. Otherwise the place is alright with normal price for food.
