A cracking pub with real character and charm. From the moment you walk in, you’re met with friendly faces, both behind the bar and among the regulars, which gives the place a genuinely welcoming feel. It’s the kind of pub where you can relax straight away and feel like part of the crowd. The downstairs area is a real highlight: warm, inviting, and made even cosier by the stove glowing in the corner. It’s a perfect hideaway for a quiet drink or a long chat. Out front, the seating area is just as good in its own way, great for a sunny afternoon or a relaxed evening watching the world go by. The cask beers are consistently excellent, always served in perfect condition, and it’s clear that the team take great pride in their connection with the local CAMRA branch. Around the pub, you’ll spot all sorts of trinkets and curiosities that add personality and spark conversation. All in all, The Samuel Oldknow is one of those rare pubs that gets everything right: great beer, great people, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that keeps you coming back. I hope you can tell, we were really impressed by our recent visit!

A genuinely special place or a special corner for a drink. A little micro pub but overflowing with charm and lovely atmosphere. Good choice of drinks and service is top notch. More seatings downstair and outside.

Flic spotted this micro bar next door to Bevi so we walked all of ten yards to sit next to where we were just sat. Super micro bar with six handpump real ales. Flic ordered another Shropshire beer, a Salopian brewery Darwin's Origin. Proper micro pub that is well worth a visit. Also sell a big Bottle Shop beer selection. The toilets are downstairs ( look to the left of the bar). There is also a second cosy room with a log burner down there plus a very small outside patio. Great pub.

Cosy little boozer with an excellent selection of ales and ciders. Does various nights in the week (e.g. bottle night) with special promos, which is a nice touch.

Gem of a pub on Marple High Street, with six cask ales, five keg beers, and a menu of Belgian, Trappist and German bottled beers. Plenty of seats, some outside space, and a log burner downstairs. Fantastic!
